You’ve heard the “a doctor is their own worst doctor” trope? Well, it’s the same for travel agents. Well, me, specifically. Last week I drove up to Vancouver BC to attend a business summit.

Did I call to confirm my hotel room before I left?

Nope.

Did I have a hotel room when I arrived?

Nope.

My debit card was frozen and canceled when I had a fraud attempt a few weeks ago. I forgot I used it to hold the room 6 months ago.

And, they were booked. Which was why they ran the card the night before I arrived? To hold the room? No, it doesn’t make sense to me either.

But I didn’t panic - I walked over to the hotel next door. It wasn’t as fancy, but it didn’t matter at that point.

Do you have a room for tonight?

Yes we do!

Is it available for the rest of the week?

Yes it is! AND, here’s a free upgrade to our King balcony! With a view!

Ok, cool.

Well, it doesn’t mean everything will always turn out when I forget to take care of myself. I just need to remember that I am also my own client, and I need to take care of me as well as I take care of you.

Focusing on Common Interest Group Travel!

What hobbies do you have? Do you meet up with others who have the same hobby? Have you ever thought about going on a trip or a cruise with like-minded travelers? For Example:

-Cycling - Members of a cycling group traveling together to Balkans for a 5-day cycling trip. Balkans are hot for cycling right now.

Fandoms - Game of Thrones? Outlander? Harry Potter? Let's go!

-History/Culture/Architecture - Join me as we trek through Spain, the UK, Italy, Greece, Morocco, France, Germany. NOT all in one trip! One country per year or every two years.

-Scrapbooking - I've got a request in to get a group of scrapbookers together for a trip to an all-inclusive resort either in the Caribbean, Mexican riviera (Yucatan), or Costa Rica...

-Astronomy club - there are two solar eclipses next year, the later one is going right across Sydney, AU. What a great excuse to go to New Zealand for a few days to experience their Night Sky parks and then to Sydney for the eclipse?

-Whiskey tasting - Scotland has 130 distilleries to choose from!
-Pickleball - There are several cruise lines (AND river cruise lines in Europe), and Sandals/Beaches all-inclusive resorts that have pickleball courts now!

And, of course, anything fiber related! Knitters, crocheters, spinners, felters, weavers, dyers, etc come and join me as we explore Europe, South America, AND the Mayan culture over the next couple of years!

Filipino and American breakfast buffet this morning. I started with the Filipino side. From top clockwise on plate: Garlic rice (a little rice with my garlic!), mini ensaymada roll, fresh fruit (YELLOW watermelon next to pineapple!), bok choi, and pancit.

FRESH watermelon juice, and chai.

There were plenty of choices of meat, but it’s too much flavor for me in the morning. I’ll get my protein on the American side.

Room Service! A mango shake and a Cebuan noodle dish (I’ll edit the actual name of the dish later) it smells so good! Time to dig in!

Edit: It was “Cebuano Bam-i Supreme”. Stir-fried noodles with pork, chicken, shrimp, vegetables, and stir fried egg. It also had crunchy onions (like French’s).
