Amazing work! Congratulations Officer Peterson!!

Today, Officer Jared Peterson was honored by the I-94 West Chamber of Commerce as a First Responder Award recipient.

Officer Peterson received this recognition for his exceptional investigative work on a complex, multi state case that protected an exploited juvenile and ultimately led to federal charges, conviction, and a 14-year prison sentence for the offender. Officer Peterson’s timely intervention and coordinated efforts with partner agencies ensured the juvenile’s safety and protection from further harm, bringing this case to a successful conclusion.

When people hear gunfire inside a regional park reserve, it raises an important question: do we have enough dedicated park police protecting our parks?

Elm Creek Park Reserve serves thousands of families and outdoor enthusiasts. Incidents like this show why visible patrols, proactive enforcement, and properly staffed park policing are essential. Public parks should be places where families feel comfortable, not places where dangerous behavior goes unchecked.
As our communities grow, public safety inside our parks must grow with them.

There are designated mountain bike trails at Carver Park Reserve, Elm Creek Park Reserve, Lake Rebecca Park Reserve and Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve and other paved bike/hike trails of varying terrain and difficulty for mountain bikers of any skill level.
