A new FMCSA update could affect how you do your job!

The Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Safe Integration of ADS is all about making sure self-driving trucks can be used safely on the roads.

For many drivers, winter means dealing with slick roads, decreased visibility, and less predictable weather conditions. Flatbed truckers are especially vulnerable to these dangers, as their load can make it more difficult to control the vehicle in these conditions.

However, here are five tips to help you stay safe on the road this winter:

✅ Never hit the road without a sturdy toolbox with your emergency tools.
✅ Ensure to include plenty of air brake tubing in case an emergency brake repair situation is necessary.
✅ Keep beacon lights on hand if you need to place them strategically around your truck.
✅ Always have a wide range of tarp shapes and sizes available on your truck. This way, you'll ensure you can protect your cargo if necessary.
✅ Watch out for water pools in voids in your tarps! They can freeze, tear and create holes, so keep an eye on them.
