Group trip math needs to be studied. 😂

10 people: “I’M DOWN!”

10 people love the destination.

10 people approve the resort.

10 people are already planning outfits, excursions, dinner reservations and airport drinks.

And then there was one. 😭✈️

Nothing reveals the official travel party faster than an actual deposit deadline.

But here’s the thing: that ONE person can STILL take the trip.

Stop cancelling perfectly good vacations because everybody who said “I’m down” suddenly went missing when it was time to book.

Sometimes the person who actually paid the deposit ends up somewhere tropical while everybody else is still in the group chat talking about “next year.” 😂🌴

Somebody finds the destination. Somebody sends the video. Everybody gets excited and says, “We need to go!”

Then schedules get busy, life keeps moving, and somehow the trip stays a conversation.

Sometimes all it takes is one destination to get the conversation started. ✈️

Maybe it’s Machu Picchu. Maybe it’s Jamaica, Italy, an all-inclusive in Mexico, a cruise or somewhere completely different.

Before you start choosing resorts and sending more screenshots, get clear on five things:

Who's actually committed to going?
What dates work for the core group?
What kind of experience are you looking for?
What's a comfortable spending range?
Who's going to be the primary point person?

These conversations aren't necessarily the exciting part of travel planning but they're often what separates the trip everybody keeps talking about from the one that actually gets planned.

You don't need every detail figured out yet.

You just need enough clarity to move forward.

Your group chat says, “We should take a trip.”

Okay…but what kind of trip are we actually talking about? 👀✈️

Maybe it's not another beach vacation.

Maybe it's waking up before sunrise in South Africa, heading into Kruger National Park, and watching the landscape come alive while you search for elephants, lions, giraffes and the rest of the Big Five. 🦒🐘🦁

That's why one of the first decisions in planning a group trip isn't necessarily where you're going.

It's how you want the trip to feel.

Relaxing? Adventurous? Cultural? Food-focused? A little bit of everything?

Once the group agrees on the experience, choosing the destination becomes a whole lot easier.

Everybody loves the idea of the group trip.

It's what happens after someone says, “We should all go somewhere” that gets complicated. 😂

One person wants Jamaica. Somebody found a resort in Mexico. The dates work for four people but not the other three. Everyone is sending screenshots, but nobody is actually making decisions.

And six months later?

The trip is still living in the group chat.

Most group trips don't stall because nobody wants to travel. They stall because nobody turns the excitement into a workable plan.

Before worrying about which resort has the prettiest pool, start with the fundamentals:

✈️ Who is genuinely committed to the trip?
📅 Which dates actually work?
🌴 What kind of experience does everyone want?
💳 What spending range is comfortable for the group?
👤 Who will be the primary decision-maker?

Get those pieces settled first, and suddenly the hundreds of travel options become much easier to navigate.

Dreaming starts the conversation. Structure gets you closer to the departure date.

There’s always that one trip.

The one everybody gets excited about every time it comes up.

Someone sends a resort.
Someone finds a flight.
Someone says, “Okay, we’re REALLY doing it this time.”

Then life happens.

The conversation gets buried under everything else, and a few months later somebody brings it up again like you never had the conversation in the first place. 😂

Not because nobody wants to go.

The trip just never made it out of the conversation and onto the calendar.

Maybe the trip your family keeps talking about doesn’t need another “we should do that someday.” 🛳️

A cruise is one of those trips that can sit in the family group chat forever somebody sends the ship, somebody sends the itinerary, everybody gets excited… and then life gets busy again.

Meanwhile, this could be the year everyone actually wakes up somewhere new together.

Pool days. Beach stops. Dinner together. Shows at night. And the kind of family memories that don't live inside the group chat because you actually made them.

There’s always that one trip everybody keeps talking about.

Maybe it’s Jamaica.

Maybe it’s the girls’ trip that was supposed to happen two birthdays ago.

Maybe it’s the family vacation everybody swears this is finally going to be the year for.

The destination changes, but the story is usually the same.

Someone brings it up. Everybody gets excited. Resorts start getting dropped into the group chat. People start talking about dates.

And then… nothing. 😂

Because eventually somebody has to turn all those ideas into an actual plan.

Which dates work?

Where should everyone stay?

Who wants what?

How much is everybody comfortable spending?

Who is actually committed and who is just sending heart-eyes under the resort pictures?

And suddenly the vacation that sounded exciting starts feeling like a project.

So it gets pushed off again.

This month, we want to talk about those trips.

Not just where you could go, but what keeps some trips living in the group chat for years while others actually make it onto the calendar.

Because at some point, “we should really do this” deserves to become “we’re booked.”
