At a nursing conference recently, one message kept coming up over and over again:
You canāt pour from an empty cup.
As nurses, moms, wives, caregivers, and women, weāre often so focused on taking care of everyone else that we forget to take care of ourselves. š«£
Iāve been thinking a lot about that lately and trying to be more intentional about my own well-being.
And then I had a little epiphany.
One of the reasons I love vacation so much isnāt just the destination.
Itās because thatās when I take the best care of myself.
I slow down. I sleep more. I spend time outside. I move my body. I drink more water. I put my phone down. I laugh more. I breathe deeper.
For a week, I give myself permission to do the things I know help me feel my best.
It made me realize that maybe the goal isnāt just taking more vacations (although I fully support that š).
Maybe itās bringing a little more of that vacation version of myself into everyday life.
This season, Iām working on filling my own cup too.
Whatās one thing you do on vacation that you wish you did more often at home?
⨠Iād love to hear in the comments.
