The Motorcoach Council works to create public awareness, shift perception of the coach, and change consumer preferences. The Council aims not only to add the motorcoach to the consumer’s list of viable transportation options but additionally to rise above the competition and trump the consumer’s preference for trains, planes and personal automobiles as the transporta

tion mode of choice. The Motorcoach Council is a public service, community-centric solution to many of the challenges we face as a nation. Without burdening the taxpayer, we can take cars off the road, provide everyday solutions to surface congestion on our highways, reduce emissions more than any other mode of transportation and reduce the greenhouse effect on our planet, as well as the carbon footprint of its inhabitants. The Motorcoach Council’s long-term vision includes outreach programs that collaborate with like-minded, not-for-profit entities that share our drive to reduce emissions, encourage carpooling, and take cars off the road. We welcome and encourage partnerships and alliances with groups such as M.A.D.D. (to reduce the number of fatalities due to drunk driving each year), Ride-Arrangers, Ride-Share, California Air Resources Board, Community Transportation Association of America, www.OurFutureNow.org, Community Transportation, The Action Network, The Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Miles for Babies, American Hydrogen Association, The Alliance for Renewable Energy, Bio-diesel America and the Coalition for Clean Air.

“We are honored to have been chosen by SFMTA to perform this major overhaul project,” said Brad Carson, CCW’s Chief Operating Officer. “CCW has a long history of performing similar scopes of work for other transit agencies, including a previous Midlife Overhaul contract with Muni for 80 buses in 2013. We look forward to working closely with Muni on this new contract.”

Complete Coach Works will overhaul 219 coaches for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency over the next 5 years.

Robin Hutcheson is leaving after 16 months on the job. She was confirmed as FMCSA administrator in October 2022. Her departure comes in the same month that Earl Adams Jr., FMCSA deputy administrator, resigned less than a year after he was sworn in.

Our successful history is due to her intelligence, experience, and passion to please our customers.”

Vickie Cole, co-owner of American Stage Tours of Concord, California, and CBA President, died last week.

“She was very instrumental in the company early on when my dad was trying to grow the business and all of us family worked in it,” Dennis Streif said of his mother, Judy. “She’d put in long hours and take on any challenge that she felt was worth fighting for and that she felt like she could accomplish. She worked tirelessly until she accomplished it.”

Vandalia Bus Lines matriarch Judy Streif died at 84 after working most of her life building up the family business.

DATTCO’s Pamela Martinez and King Gray Coach Lines’ Dennis King were recently elected to the GNJMA board of directors.

“We have become aware of an incident that took place on Tuesday, Nov. 14, wherein charter customers from another bus company were left stranded on their way to a rally in Washington, D.C. Coach USA was not in any way involved in this incident,” said Colin Emberson, Vice President of Commercial for Coach USA. “In fact, Coach USA successfully carried passengers on 74 charter buses from New Jersey and Maryland to the rally on Tuesday as planned.”

Coach USA attributes a reported lawsuit to misinformation about which bus company left March for Israel protesters stranded.

Last week, Gary Shimshock was surprised to learn that his story of how his company is struggling under the weight of inflation and a labor shortage was shared on the U.S. Senate Floor by Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.). “She was listening. Put it that way,” said Shimshock, who along with his wife Natalie, owns Budget Charter in Adah, Pennsylvania. But he was surprised that his frustrations were taken directly to the elected leaders who may be able to do something about it.

Dreamliner CEO Jeremy Maul said the acquisition of Hemphill Brothers Coach will allow the company to service more than 50% of the larger arena and stadium tours in the United States and Canada. “As we further our goal of redefining the art of tour travel, we will leverage the strengths and experience at the heart of both Dreamliner and Hemphill to become the industry’s largest and most sought-after resource for high-end tour coaches,” he said.

The acquisition of Hemphill Brothers Coach Company nearly triples Dreamliner Luxury Coaches’ fleet to 190 coaches.
