It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Board Member and Secretary Kevin Rooker, who died due to complications from surgery.
Kevin served on the Saginaw Depot Preservation Corporation Board as Secretary for the last 5 years. Throughout his service, he dedicated countless hours to the Station and to advancing our mission. Among his many lasting contributions, Kevin authored the Historic District Study Committee Report that led to the Station and surrounding areas being designated as a Historic District. The impact of this work alone is immeasurable, ensuring that the Station’s history is preserved and honored for generations to come.
Kevin was a passionate advocate for historic preservation and a profoundly positive influence on the Saginaw community. He was a dedicated teacher, served on multiple boards, and generously gave his time to volunteer efforts that enriched the community he loved. His kindness, leadership, and unwavering commitment made a profound difference in the lives of so many.
This is an enormous loss, not only for the Saginaw Depot Preservation Corporation and those fortunate enough to have known him but for Saginaw as a whole. We extend our deepest condolences to his husband, Bill Ostash (SDPC Treasurer) and to all of Kevin’s family, friends, and colleagues.
