What's in your attic? This is all to common. Retro foam is a scam and here's the proof.

You should never dense pack or inject a cavity blind. This is a far to common result. Nothing gives spray foam insulation a bad name quite like this. Injection foam should never be installed in a climate zone 7.

If you are looking to have your insulation installed properly, here at Minnesota Spray Foam And Coatings ,LLC we will tear off your roof, remove the old insulation, and replace it with closed cell spray foam the correct way. Water tanks! We sprayed it on a windy spring day not our best work making it look flat! Once we were able to get the coating applied to get the foam protected from UV rays it turned out very nice. What we are most proud of on this job is being able to Hire Local 49 Heat and frost insulators to wrap the water pipes with a special material used in the industry applications. They were able to complete this water take so it's capable of being used in the winter months.

Ready to seal out that carbon monoxide from entering your home? We spray foamed this garage floor with closed cell spray foam that achieves an air and v***r barrier the only insulation that can do that. Fun fact the 3" that can get sprayed in a floor or wall system make up to 300% structural strength at the highest R value of any insulation on the market right now our foam is achieving R-7.2 vs traditional most commonly used is fiberglass. Fiberglass usally achieves approximately R -3.5 with no v***r barrier. What does that really mean? Without a v***r barrier heat can escape on a cold winter day and will cause exfiltration of energy loss that can lead to many short and long term effects, such as ice daming and high energy bills.

Another beautiful summer day sealing up this shop with 2" R-14 closed cell spray foam to create a seamless Air and v***r barrier, once we hit 24 hours of off gassing we will top this attic off with 13" R-36 fiberglass to achieve R-49 code.

Why choose closed cell spray foam over traditional polystyrene pink sheet foam? Seamless with structural strength so it won't break when being walked over. Thermal R value of R-4 higher than traditional 2"R-10 this is 2" R-14. Less labor as we create a v***r barrier with spray foam unlike polystyrene foam and v***r barrier has to be added as well taping all of the seams.

What's in your attic? This photo shows 3 different types of insulation over the years to help with energy loss. Unfortunately without a proper v***r barrier you are only slowing down energy loss. We work skilled roofing contractors that realize a new roof will not fix ice damming or energy loss unless we remove the old insulation and replace it with closed cell spray foam for a continuous air and v***r barrier! We love building science! This photo is of a house we recent spray foamed with closed cell spray foam, photo 1 around the attic access shows how cold the ceiling is with 2" R-14 closed cell spray foam and 13" R-36 fiberglass to achive code. Customer made a temporary attic access with Osb wood and 2" polystyrene foam. We have over a 30 degree temperature difference because it's improperly insulated. Picture 2 just shows how the attic is on a normal Minnesota summer day. Outside temps were 70. Roof temperature was 168° while the attic was still seeing 122° air temps. We are happy with a black metal building still maintaining 60° inside with no Hvac. That's a 60° difference from the attic!
