Hi all. (Fair warning: LONG message follows, but REALLY interested in your opinion...)
Recently, I have discovered a service that does something similar to what I do. They hunt down and "rescue" great used clothing, and sell it to customers that do not have the time nor desire to do the same thing for themselves. This particular service sells "mystery boxes" of 4 curated used clothing pieces (in the customer's size) for the cost of $30 per box. Basically-- each clothing piece averages out to be about $7.50 per item. The items can be 4 tops, or 2 pair of pants and 2 tops, or a dress, or a skirt, scarf and 2 tops, etc. Again...it is a mystery to what the box will contain. The only thing the customer knows is that they will get 4 pieces of excellent condition clothing in their given size.
So....what is the point of me telling you this? I am always curious about things that might appeal to others. The service above has had a great response to this idea. Customers are raving about the experience. They want more. They are understanding the value in it. They are increasing their wardrobe inexpensively and they love the surprise of getting a mystery box. It is like opening a birthday gift! They don't know what will be inside, but they know it was picked out carefully just for them!!
So, I ask YOU. Does this sound like something that would appeal to YOU?? Would you want to try something like this?
If you liked the idea....what price point would make sense to you? (Keep in mind that the local Goodwill averages about $5-$6 per shirt, $7 per pair of pants, and higher $$ for jackets, etc. If the item is a well known quality brand...the prices are jacked up even higher than that!) . Plus, you have to hunt through everything and spend possibly hours to find the occasional nice piece!
I am interested in offering MY customers a similar type of service to the one described above. WHY does this make sense for me to do, you ask? Well....I have a TON of inventory and I am always adding to it. I love doing my Bundle service, but honestly it takes a lot of time and effort to collect 20-25 items to mix and match to make outfits, and give a lot of variance within one bundle, and then type up an itemized list, etc. I get back logged pretty quickly doing so. There is almost always a waiting list. Each piece is usually slightly more expensive than what I could offer in a mystery box, to equate to the extra work I am putting in getting the curated bundle completely ready to go. If I were to try this mystery box route-- I could offer the clothing at a discounted rate, because honestly, it would be a lot less work for me to prepare each box.
Soooo--I want to take a bit of a poll.... if I were to offer this "mystery box" service with 3 main options, (2 items for $15, 3 items for $20, or 4 items for $25) would you think that was a reasonable cost, and worth not knowing what might be in the box?? I would be handpicking items based on simple "likes and dislikes" types of questions, and what I know about your style. AND my goal is to please you, not take advantage. All items I purchase for resale are in excellent condition and current in style. The only stipulation is that there would be no exchanges or returns. (That is when it all becomes MORE work and I am trying to keep your cost down!)
PLEASE tell me your thoughts...... I really want to know. :0)
