We met Scott Williams of Basement Replacement Experts at Midstates Housemovers Association annual convention. When he called looking for help moving this house the answer was, of course! We loaded the house and had Scott come up and pull it (Iowa laws 🙄) with his truck that he just had set up at Midwest House Movers. (Which is another Midstates connection). The connections we have made at the conventions over the past few years have opened many opportunities for us.

Raise a 3200 sq ft house and dig it all out in 50 seconds? No problem!!

Just kidding, the days of prep that are unseen in the video make it look easy. Once we had all our steel installed, 12 jacks were set on 8 cribs to raise the house to allow room for block to be laid. Once the house was raised 5' we began digging out roughly 700 yards of fill to allow for a full basement to be constructed under the house.

The house was originally built on concrete piers that were settling, that is where we were called into this project. Once the basement is up, we will set the house back down and the homeowner will have a massive basement to utilize!

The original part of this house was built before the 1900’s, and had basement added under it in the 60’s. The addition put on in around 1910 had a failing rock foundation on one half and a giant cistern on the other.

We came in a dug out the failing walls and cistern to add full functioning basement under the whole house as well as add 8” of height to the original part.

We had to lift the house on 8 cribs. utilizing our Jahns Structure Jacking System made lifting the 60 ton house 32” easy and precise!

Dug out and lifted for a taller much safer basement to be installed.
We were even able to get Greg Lingbeek back into a skid loader to help us out!!
