Mothball Bandits:

Robert Czyszczon, owner of the Plaza Beach Hotel, Bayview Plaza Waterfront Resort, and the Bay Palms Waterfront Resort and Marina along Gulf Blvd in St. Pete Beach, Florida along with alleged co-conspirator Chris Monroe, owner of a bar on the Plaza Beach Hotel property, are charged with felonies by the FWC.

Charges are related to protected birds nesting on the beach, seemingly eating into their bottom line. This story has made the news nationwide. Czyszczon told reporters as he was released from Pinellas County jail that he is innocent. The evidence is pretty damning. What are your thoughts?

Black skimmers are a state-designated threatened species, with only about 6,800 nesting in Florida. The men believed the birds were costing their businesses up to $50,000, wildlife officials said.
