✈️ What’s That Noise? It’s the Sound of Visitors Supporting Salem! 😄
We know things have been a little louder than usual around Salem Leckrone Field lately — aerobatic airplanes aren’t exactly known for sneaking into town quietly. 😉
While our recent aerobatic competition has wrapped up, a few of the competitors have stayed in Salem to practice before heading on to their next competition.
And while we completely understand that the extra noise can be an inconvenience, there’s a pretty great upside to having these pilots choose Salem as their temporary home base.
⛽ They’re purchasing fuel right here at our airport.
🏨 They’re staying in our local hotels.
🍔 They’re eating in our restaurants.
🛍️ They’re spending money in our community.
Events like these bring visitors — and dollars — into Salem while giving our airport an opportunity to showcase what our community has to offer.
So if you hear a little extra buzzing overhead, just know it’s temporary. Think of it as the sound of tourism… with a few more horsepower. 😄✈️
We appreciate everyone’s patience while our visiting pilots prepare for their next competition, and we’re proud that they chose Salem Leckrone Field and our community as a place to stop, stay and practice.
And hey… it’s not every town that gets a front-row seat to aerobatic pilots practicing overhead! 🇺🇸✈️
