🎃 WHAT A PARADE! 🎃

Thank you, Salem! The 2026 Haunted Happenings Grand Parade was one for the books, and we could not have done it without the incredible community that we have here in this city.

From our amazing parade participants and floats to the volunteers who helped line the route and help keep everything moving, our sponsors who made the celebration possible, the City of Salem and Salem Police Department for keeping everyone safe, and DPS and the crews working behind the scenes to make sure the route was safe and ready, THANK YOU. 🧡

A huge thank you to our Grand Marshal, Aubry Bracco, for leading the way, and to our presenting sponsors: Prime Group Shetland Park, Salem Witch Museum, St Jean's Credit Union, and The House of the Seven Gables. We are so grateful for your continued support of this Salem tradition.

A huge thank you to Salem Access Television for filming the parade and capturing the celebration, and to Salem the Podacst for hosting the SATV broadcast! (link to stream in the comments)

Thank you to our photographers on the route including Creative Collective MA, Honey & Sage Photo Co. , Things To Do In Salem, Destination Salem, Massachusetts. (link to albums included in comments)

And of course, thank you to everyone who came out to watch, cheer, dress up, dance, wave, take photos, and celebrate along the route. You brought the energy!

The parade is a massive community effort, and seeing so many people come together is what makes it so special. Thank you to every single person who played a part, whether you were marching in it, volunteering, sponsoring it, photographing it, or simply standing along the route cheering everyone on.

Kickoff the season at the Salem Chamber's 29th Annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade on Thursday, October 1st at 6:30PM, presented by Prime Group Shetland Park, The House of the Seven Gables, Salem Witch Museum, and St. Jean's Credit Union. We are extremely grateful for the support of our Presenting Sponsors. We would not be able to host this local-favorite annual event without their generous contribution!
This year’s parade will feature the theme “Old-School Halloween”! As we celebrate Salem400+ this year, we're looking back at the evolution of Halloween through the ages. From the ancient traditions of Samhain to classic trick-or-treating, homemade costumes, and even the nostalgia of '90s Halloween movies, we can't wait to see your interpretation. Our Grand Marshall this year is Aubry Bracco – four-time contestant on Survivor and the recent winner of Survivor 50 earlier this year. Aubry has deep connections to Salem, previously living in the city and was the founding editor of the Salem Patch. We are excited to celebrate her success with her selection as our Grand Marshall and Aubry is thrilled to celebrate a community that holds such a special place in her heart.
The evening should be a night full of color, pageantry, music, and the enthusiasm of thousands of Salem’s students from kindergarten to college plus many local businesses and non-profits. Their participation is what makes this a highly successful, cherished event for our community.
Salem Police will begin road closures around 4PM. The parade commences from Shetland Park at 6:30PM and weaves thru Downtown Salem to Salem Common, ending at approximately 8PM. The pedestrian safety barriers will return again, lining both sides of the parade route. Gaps in the barriers for pedestrian access before the parade starts will remain open until 6:15PM (See route & gaps map below). Once the barrier gaps are shut at 6:15PM, there will be a single crossing point at the intersection of Front Street and Washington Street that will remain open for the duration of the parade for people to safely cross. We extend a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who will help make the event safe and successful.
To ensure the success of this event, the Salem Chamber requests the support of the Salem business community. In addition to our great Presenting Sponsors, we want to thank our Banner Sponsors: Atlantic Toyota, Coffee Time Bake Shop, Desjardin Insurance Agency, Eastern Bank, Haunted Warren Museum, Peabody Essex Museum, Rockland Trust, Salem State University, The Hive Workspace and Business Center, and Witch City Walking Tours! Lastly we are grateful for additional support of our Friends of the Parade: Black Cat Curiosity Shoppe & Tours, Blackcraft, Cheetah DJ & Photography, Dóchas House of Yoga, Institution for Savings, Metro Credit Union, Palmer Cove Yacht Club, The Sea Wych Salem, and When Seconds Count. Please help us show our gratitude to our sponsors by showing them your support.

We are looking forward to a fun, safe, and successful Haunted Happenings Grand Parade on October 1st!

We’re thrilled to announce that, four-time Survivor contestant and winner of Survivor 50, will be leading the way as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Haunted Happenings Grand Parade!

Aubry has a special connection to Salem. She previously called the city home and was the founding editor of Salem Patch, covering the people, businesses, and community that make Salem so special.

From surviving the island to taking on Salem’s biggest Halloween celebration, we can’t think of a more fitting person to kick off the season!

🌧️ Due to this weekend’s weather forecast, tonight's Mayor’s Night Out and the outdoor vendor markets this weekend have been cancelled. Individual businesses may still be participating and passing out candy this evening for the Trick or Treating.

But that doesn’t mean your weekend has to be a washout,
there’s plenty to explore in Salem when the weather outside is less than ideal.

Here are a few rainy-day ideas:

🖼 Explore the Peabody Essex Museum
🎬 Catch a movie at Cinema Salem
🎥 Check out a National Park Service documentary screening
🏛️ Tour one of Salem’s historic house museums
🧙 Learn the history of 1692 at the Salem Witch Museum
🛍️ Shop local and duck into some of Salem’s small businesses
⚖️ Experience Cry Innocent: The People Versus Bridget Bishop
📸 Get creative at Witch Pix
🍺 Grab a craft b**r or c***r at one of Salem’s breweries and taprooms
🔎 Peek into history, hauntings, or piracy at a local attraction

So grab an umbrella, embrace the cozy weather, and make a day of it. There’s still plenty happening in Salem, rain or shine!

Any other ideas? Add them to the comments!
