This Saturday, October 10, the Cal's Moving & Storage team will be at the Oregon Zoo for the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Portland.

Alzheimer's touches so many families in our community, and we're proud to walk alongside them. If you'll be there too, come say hi! Registration opens at 7 AM and the walk starts around 8:30.

Moving soon? Here's what should NOT go on the moving truck.

Cash, jewelry, and valuables. Currency, jewelry, and precious metals or stones should stay with you, not in a box on the truck.

Important papers. Passports, birth certificates, titles, deeds, tax records, and anything hard to replace belong in a folder you carry yourself.

Hazardous materials. Propane tanks, gasoline, paint thinner, fireworks, am******on, and other flammable or explosive items can't go on the truck. Use them up, dispose of them safely, or transport them yourself according to local rules.

Pets. We don't transport household pets. Plan for them to ride with you, and set them up in a quiet closed room on moving day so doors can stay open safely.

First-night essentials. Medications, phone chargers, glasses, a change of clothes, toiletries, and bedding for the first night. Pack a clearly marked "open first" bag and keep it in your car.

Tip: gather all of these in one room or in your vehicle before the crew arrives so nothing gets packed by accident.

When our crew wraps a chair or sofa, the moving blanket takes the tape, so adhesive never touches fabric, wood, or finish. Moving a few pieces yourself? Wrap them in a blanket or old towel first and tape the wrap to itself.
