Happy 116th birthday to College Park Airport! This month in 1909, flying at College Park began. After leasing the field, shipping a Wright Flyer here, and building a hangar, Wilbur Wright starting instructing Army lieutenants Lahm and Humphries went up with Wilbur Wright on instructional flights of about 5 minutes each. By the end of the month, after about 3 hours total of flying each, they soloed and the US’s air force was born.
