10 things movers don't tell you. 🤫

Save this. Send it. Then read every quote with new eyes.

1. That "low quote"? Designed to balloon on moving day. Non-binding estimates legally allow them to charge more.
2. Default coverage is 60¢ per pound. Your $3,000 TV? About $24 if it breaks.
3. Some "movers" are actually brokers. They take your job and resell it to whoever's cheapest. You never meet the crew until the day of.
4. A lot of crews are day labor — hired that morning. No training. No background checks. No one to call tomorrow.
5. The clock sometimes starts at the warehouse, not your door. You paid for their commute.
6. Disassembling your bed, table, or crib? Often a separate fee. Same for putting it back together.
7. Long-distance moves frequently share trucks with strangers. Your stuff takes a scenic route. Delivery dates become "windows."
8. Damage claims are designed to be painful. Tight deadlines. Endless paperwork. Payouts that barely cover the bubble wrap.
9. Packing supplies are marked up 3–5x. That $4 box at the warehouse? It's $15 on your invoice.
