Struggling to balance 115v loads on your split phase generator?

We’re installing a Victron Autotransformer to eliminate this issue on a new trawler.
By powering the transformer with two 115v lines from the genset (230v), we can pull widely uneven loads from the two 115v outputs of the transformer, while having the load on the two inputs be perfectly balanced.

On this vessel, we have a 50A service for air conditioning and a 30A service for the house loads.

There are a few key factors for a proper installation of any electrical components.

1) Use the proper crimp tool for the connectors you are using.
2) Use the proper size conductor for the load and length of the wire run.
3) Always make connections in an accessible and obvious point in a wire run- NEVER hide a splice.
4) Keep wires tidy and organized.
5) Install a proper fuse for the conductor and circuit you are adding.

Electronics don’t last forever, but a good installation can live on as components are repaired or replaced.
