Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority VTA is the public transit, transportation planning, Congest. Mngt. Authority in Sta Clara Co.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) provides bus, light rail, and paratransit services. The agency also participates as a funding partner in regional rail service including Caltrain, Capital Corridor, and the Altamont Corridor Express. As the county’s congestion management agency, VTA is responsible for countywide transportation planning, including congestion management, design and construction of specific highway, pedestrian, and bicycle improvement projects, as well as promotion of transit-oriented development. VTA provides these services throughout the county, including the municipalities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mountain View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga and Sunnyvale. VTA continually builds partnerships to deliver transportation solutions that meet the evolving mobility needs of Santa Clara County.

Today, we celebrated a major step forward for VTA employees and workforce housing.

Thank you to Assemblymember Ash Kalra for authoring AB 2263, Assemblymembers Patrick Ahrens and Assemblymember Gail Pellerin and Senator Dave Cortese Cortese for helping move the legislation forward, and Governor Gavin Newsom for signing it into law.

Most importantly, thank you to the VTA employees and unions who supported this effort and shared why access to housing closer to work matters.

With AB 2263 now law, VTA has a new opportunity to help provide housing for the public servants who dedicate their careers to keeping Santa Clara County moving.

This season, VTA is teaming up with San José Museum of Art, The Tech Interactive, and Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose for a community art contest to decorate our vehicles and transit stops. 🚌🚏

Artists are invited to create an original masterpiece inspired by the theme “Next Stop: Imagination!” Dream up an adventure, a new destination, or wherever your imagination wants to go.

Create. Imagine. Enter!

How it works:

“People become a part of you,” says VTA Bus Operator Felipe Begines. That’s one of the special parts of the job. 💙

Felipe recently received thank-you notes from two young passengers he’s been taking to Santa Teresa High School on Route 66, one for the past few years and the other starting this year. As their family prepares to move to Manteca, the students shared that they were nervous about starting over somewhere new. Felipe offered some words of encouragement and reassurance, and in return, they surprised him with notes thanking him for driving them to school and being part of their lives.

“I’ve seen many, many children grow up before my eyes. So many come looking for me to tell me all about their lives, how they’re doing, college, jobs, marriage, kids,” Felipe said.

Transit Month may be coming to an end, but connections like these continue every day on VTA. Thank you, Felipe, and all our operators who make an impact that goes far beyond the ride.

Happy ! Let’s all work hard to keep our bus stops and stations clean! Stormwater drains directly into nearby waterways and to the San Francisco Bay.

VTA has installed over 200 trash capture devices on storm drains to reduce trash entering our local waterways. We have also added “No Dumping – Flows to Bay” medallions on storm drains to remind everyone: only rain should go down the drain.

We regularly clean storm drain inlets and follow good housekeeping practices to stop trash from reaching our creeks and rivers.

You can help make a difference by:

🗑️ Utilizing trash bins at VTA stations and bus stops

🫗 Never dumping anything into storm drains
