Eucalyptus ibrosa Subsp. Fibrosa
Known as Broad-leaved Ironbark
Habit: An evergreen Tree with an open crown of ascending main branches and pendulous foliage; to 70 feet tall.
Fruit: Somewhat conical or pear-shaped.
Twigs: Thin and angled.
Bark: Rough, hard and deeply fissured; gray-black to black, with cream-colored fissures.
Leaves: Juvenile leaves roundish, large to 4x3 inches green, slightly paler underneath.
Location: 1 Tree on the west side of Ashley Avenue.

Endemic to Guadalupe Island off the west coast of Baja California.
Habit: A stocky fan palm with a solitary stem and a broad, open crown of about 20 leaves; to 30 feet tall.
Inflorescense: Many-branched flower stalks are visible from within the leaves, 3-4 feet long' flowers creamy yellow, in clusters of three on sot hairy peduncles. Blooms February to April.
Fruit: Globose, 1 to 1-1/2 inches in diameter, black, pulpy; in large hanging clusters on a stout stalk.
Stem: Tannish-gray, with shallow vertical fissures; annular rings r leaf scars evident but not deep.
Leaves: Palmate; blade 3-5 feet across, green on both sides, divided halfway to the petiole into 70-80 stiff segments which are then briefly divided at the apex, segments generally stiff; petiole 3-5 feet, stout, hairy at base, with short knobby teeth or none.
Locations: Franceschi Park east of the cottage; several individuals in east Alameda Plaza; another on the Figuroa Street side o the County Courthouse.

Saucer Magnolia Habit: A large deciduous shrub or small low-branched tree; to 15 feet tall. Inflorescence: Large upright flowers, bel-shaped 5-10 inches across. Twigs: Brown glabrous, with gray lenticels and prominent stipule scars, fragrant when crushed. Bark: Smooth, gray, attractive to sapsuckers. Leaves: Alternate, simple, obovate, apex narrow and short-pointed, 3-6 x 1/2-4 inches, dark green above. Locations: Alice Keck Park, SB Natural History Museum at the parking lot exit.

Phoenix Canariensis, also known as a:
Canary Island Date Palm
habit: a Stout feather Palm, very tropical in appearance.
With age it could grow up to 75' with a dense crown of about 200 leaves.
Fruit: Bright orange, ovoid, 1 inch long, very fleshy; seed 3/4 inch long, somewhat wrinkled with a deep groove.
Stem: Stout, to 3 feet in diameter.
Leaves: Pinnate, 15-20 feet long with 150-200 one foot leaflets on each side.
Locations: E & W. Alameda Plaza, Co Courthouse, Mission Park as Palmas Dr and Potter Hotel

Castanospermum is a genus of 12 species found primarily in the tropical Americas, but extending to Australia.
Also Known as Moreton Bay Chestnut, black bean.
Habit: A slow growing evergreen tree with a columnar crown to 50 feet tall.
Fruit: Pods usually in clusters of 3-5 inches with brown seeds.
Twigs: Stout, green & brown.
Bark: Smooth, gray to brow.
Leaves: Alternate, pinnately compound with a terminal leaflet.
Locations: Crestline Dr, Oak Park Lane, Stow Park in Goleta & Goleta Cottage Hospital.

Myrtus: Myrtus is a genus of 2 species frm the mediterranean region Myrtus is the Greek name or the plant. Habit An evergreen bushy shrub. Inflorencense: Axillary, solitary flowers white, 3/4 inch across and fragrant. Fruit: A purplish-Black Berry, 1/2 inch long. Twigs: Finely hair, tannish, ridged. Bark: Smooth, plin to expose a cinnamon-brown under layer. Leaves: Oval to lanceolate, dark glossy green. Locations: Alice Keck Park, Memorial Gardens, SB Cemetary and West Alameda Plaza.
