Perhaps one of the most charming new discoveries of the past several years. We are in County Roscommon, the village of Tarmonbarry on the River Shannon. County Longford is on the other side of the river. Definitely need to figure out a way to get more clients up here to the “Hidden Heart of Ireland.”

Having a day on my hands as I wait for Joe and Cyndi to arrive on their weather-delayed flight from Newark to Dublin, I searched “Interesting towns near me” and decided upon seaside Skerries, about 35 minutes to the north. Along the way I listened to soft rock radio on a station which admits it’s totally run by Artificial Intelligence. As a former DJ for Armed Forces Radio, I found this amusing and just a bit unsettling.

My clients from Pennsylvania have to wait an additional 22 hours for their trip to begin due to weather delays in Newark. No worries. Their quiet sea-view room is ready and I’ve arranged an extra late check out so that they have the option of a nice nap, shower and change of clothes before we move on a few hours to the north and west where Cyndi’s ancestors came from. This is just one of the hundreds of little things that I do to make any trip across the pond easier, especially when events out of our control throw a wrench into long range planning.

Here we go. The 370th custom-designed tour of my career gets started tomorrow with Joe and Cyndi’s arrival from Pennsylvania for 14 days of stress-free touring around the Emerald Isle. I’m in position after an easy flight over from Frankfurt and waiting patiently with something delicious just poured for me at the former seaside home of the illustrious Jameson family.
