Where to this Wednesday?

Portland, Oregon!

This beautiful city holds many hidden gems for you to explore for a great weekend trip.

Check into Woodlark Hotel in downtown Portland on your first day. With the central location, you can take a walk around the city and explore.

While in town, make sure to check out the Pittock Mansion. This French Renaissance style chateau was built in 1914 and is now a city museum.

Want to do something more connected to nature? Go on a hike in the Columbia River Gorge. There are beautiful waterfalls, streams, and rivers to see and enjoy.

Take an afternoon to stroll through the Portland Saturday Market. This market is the largest continuously operated outdoor market in the US and gives you a chance to see local arts and crafts and have a taste of Portland.

Just steps from nature, Portland is a wonderful place to visit. Whether you’re a nature lover or love the city, Portland has something for you!

Welcome to Where to Wednesday! Each Wednesday, TJW Travel will highlight great locations for you to travel to.

First stop is: ✨Iceland✨

There is so much to see and do in the land of ice and fire.

Start your trip by checking into the Sand Hotel, conveniently located in Reykjavik’s city center. Even more convenient is the placement above a local bakery for you to sample some Icelandic pastries and coffee!

With so much to do and see in Iceland, there are a few things you should most definitely put on your itinerary. Driving around the Golden Circle is a great day trip from Reykjavik to see some waterfalls, geysers, and other natural wonders.

Looking for something more relaxing? Take a relaxing soak in the Blue Lagoon. Spend the day or simply a few hours.

Want an adventure? Book a tour and explore Raufarhólshellir. This tunnel was carved by lava over 5,200 years ago and you have a chance to see the inner workings of a volcanic eruption.

During your trip, make sure you get a traditional Icelandic hot dog at Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur. It has to be all done up with raw and fried onions, ketchup, sweet brown mustard, and remoulade on a steamed bun. Yum!

September is a great time of year to visit due to the wonderful weather and ample chances to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights!

Hope to see you there soon!

Want a quick and easy weekend trip that’ll have a little something for everyone? Then check out Savannah, Georgia, one of my favorite places to visit.

Spend the day walking around historic downtown Savannah, checking out the historic homes and beautiful town squares. Stop at the Gryphon Tea Room for lunch, a beautiful restaurant run by the Savannah College of Art and Design. Then, take some time to stroll through Forsyth Park and enjoy the magnolia trees. Maybe even tour Bonaventure Cemetery, which is featured in the novel and film, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.

The next day, spend some time visiting the different vintage stores along Broughton. Then hop down to River Street to window shop, pick up some pralines from River Street Sweets, and watch cargo ships pass by. Finish your night by dining at one of the many seafood places located right on the water!

On your last day, head out to Tybee Island to relax on the beach and maybe even see some dolphins. If you’re into history, visit Fort Pulaski National Monument on your way back into Savannah after your beach day. And if you’re lucky enough to score tickets, head over to Grayson Stadium to see the Savannah Bananas take on the Party Animals.

Savannah has a little something for everyone in your group!

Conner and Lauren reached out to me to help plan their honeymoon to St. Lucia for January 2022. They knew they wanted to stay at an all-inclusive, but didn’t know how to pick the best resort. I helped book a Luxury Swim Out Suite at Hideaway at Royalton St. Lucia, an adults only resort located in Gros Inlet.

St. Lucia is a great option for honeymoons, anniversaries, or a romantic getaway because of its picturesque Piton Mountains, rainforest interior, and stunning blue waters.

Conner and Lauren had a great time at the sulphur spring mud baths and snorkeling in the Caribbean. They both really enjoyed a chance to sit, be in each other’s company, and enjoy the beauty of the island.

To make their honeymoon a little more special, they also booked the resort’s romance package, which included a candlelit dinner on the beach, couple’s massage, and champagne and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival.

Message me if you need help finding the best all-inclusive for you!

🏛️Looking for a museum day while in Atlanta? These three gems are a great place to start!🏛️

First up is the Center for Puppetry Arts (), where you'll find a collection of more than 2,000 puppets from around the world, but most importantly a great Jim Henson exhibit with characters from The Muppets and Sesame Street!

Next is the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum (), which tells the story of President Carter's life and legacy. From his early years in Georgia to his work in the White House and beyond, the museum offers a fascinating look at one of the country's most accomplished leaders.

Finally, don't miss the National Center for Civil and Human Rights (), which explores the history of civil rights in America and around the world. The museum's exhibits are powerful and thought-provoking, and a must-visit for anyone interested in social justice.

🔸Florence🔸
Discover the Renaissance City of Florence in just three days. Food, art, and history all collide in this masterpiece, waiting to be explored.

Stay at the Hotel Accademia and take a scenic stroll to the iconic Florence Cathedral, also known as the Duomo. Start your day early and climb to the top for panoramic views of the Florentine city and the Tuscan countryside. Afterwards, head to the Accademia Gallery to see the original David statue by Michaelangelo and other famous works. To end your day, cross the Arno River and drink in the beauty of sunset from the Ponte Vecchio.

If you haven’t gotten your fill of Italian art, spend the next day exploring the Uffizi gallery. See artists such as Raffaello, Botticelli, and Caravaggio, all featured there! Grab a panini from All’ Antico Vinaio and some gelato from Grom before heading to Boboli Gardens, a beautiful park with gardens, fountains, and stunning views of Florence.

Start your last day exploring the opulence at the Pitti Palace, home of the Medici family. Marvel at the family who sponsored the beginning of the Renaissance. Then, stroll through the San Lorenzo Market to pick up some leather goods and souvenirs to remember your trip by.

💐Tulip time in Amsterdam💐

Amsterdam is city straight out of a fairytale and is even more magical during tulip season. Mid-April to mid-May is the perfect time for a trip to see those peak blooms.

See artistic tulip displays at Keukenhof Gardens or make your way to some tulip farms to walk through rows of fresh flowers!

Some other sites to check out during your trip:
🌷Anne Frank House
🌷Rijksmuseum
🌷Van Gogh Museum
🌷Red Light District
🌷Canal Cruise (I recommend taking one at night!)
🌷Food, must try stroopwafel, frites, rijsttafel, and pannenkoeken

✨Client Highlight✨

Last August, Alana reached out to me about taking a trip abroad, but with the stipulation that it must be somewhere with warm weather in April. With that information, I made inspiration boards for three destinations: Italy, Spain, and Portugal. They quickly made their decision to visit Italy!

We worked together to come up with a custom itinerary and they chose to spend time in Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri, and Naples during their week-long trip.

Alana and Cole loved going on a limoncello and olive oil farm tour and their boat excursion to the island of Capri.

Alana stated that their trip was a “10/10” and how a part of her heart will always be in Sorrento. They recommend always getting the gelato no matter if you think you are full or not!

Sometimes I have to travel for my *actual* job and last week I was lucky enough to be in Washington, D.C. to see peak cherry blossom blooms.

Whenever I travel for work, I make sure to take some free time and explore, usually by taking a walk or hike. I ended up walking six miles total, going from my hotel to the National American History Museum, to the Washington Monument, around the tidal basin, to the Lincoln Memorial, and back. It was a perfect spring day with 65 degree weather and sunny skies.

There are so many things to do in D.C. and especially during cherry blossom season, message me if you want to plan a trip for next year!
