River cruising continues to be one of the most popular ways to see Europe — but this summer has also been a good reminder that choosing the right cruise line matters. 🚢

Low water levels on parts of the Rhine and Danube have caused some itinerary changes, and we’ve been watching how different cruise lines are handling them. Some have larger fleets that allow for ship swaps, while others have arranged alternate transportation, hotel stays and other options to keep their guests taken care of.

Despite the disruptions, river cruising remains incredibly popular, with several major cruise lines already reporting strong bookings for 2027.
