12 years of traveling with my daughter and I still don’t care how many countries she’s been to.

I care that every trip gives her another chance to be brave, try something new, and realize the world is a lot bigger than what she already knows.

Someday she’ll be planning trips without me. She’ll have her own favorite places, her own stories, and probably a very strong opinion about how I planned ours. 😂

But these memories? She gets to keep those.

That’s the whole point for me.

What’s one memory you want to make with your kid this year? Tell me in the comments. 👇

And send this to a parent who believes the trip is about so much more than the destination.

We didn’t always have a phones-away-at-dinner rule. It’s something that’s grown as our kids have gotten older, because the older they get, the more intentional we’ve had to be about actually talking to them.

Vacation dinners are where the real recap happens. Best part of the day. What we’re doing tomorrow. The stuff that never comes up when everyone’s staring at a screen.

It’s not a punishment. It’s just something we protect on purpose, at home and on the road.

We realized if there was no expectation of a phone-free dinner, our kids weren’t going to invent one on their own.

What’s your family’s version of this rule? Tell us in the comments. I’m always curious what’s working for other families.

Follow for more of how we actually do family travel, not just the highlight reel.

It’s meet the teacher week, which means it’s time for that form. You know the one: “Anything else you want us to know about your child?”

Most answers are about learning style or what motivates their kid. Mine always includes travel, and it’s changed how her teachers and I handle the school she misses every year.

Send this to a parent filling out that form this week. Comment NOTE and I’ll send you the exact line I use.
