Did you know some four-legged friends can ride with you on COLTS?

Service animals are always welcome aboard COLTS vehicles when accompanying an individual with a disability.

Small dogs and other pets may also travel with you as long as they are safely secured in an appropriate pet carrier.

Whether theyโ€™re working hard or just along for the ride, weโ€™re happy to help you and your furry companions get where you need to go! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š

Please, remember that service animals are not required to be in a carrier, while pets must remain properly contained during the trip.

๐Ÿ’™ A Message That Made Us Proud

Following the fire and emergency at Amos Towers on Friday evening, August 14, COLTS provided two buses to assist residents during what was understandably a frightening and uncertain time.

Afterward, we received a heartfelt message from a member of our community who asked to remain anonymous:

โ€œJust want to say thank you so very much for the two buses that you provided to Amos Towers during the fire/emergency. It was very scary for those that live there and family with loved ones there.

The drivers you sent were absolutely amazing. I do see these women on a regular basis. They are both very compassionate & caring. You are blessed to have them.

Thank you so much.โ€

We are incredibly proud of our operators, dispatchers, and maintenance employees who assisted and responded that evening with compassion, professionalism, and care.

Public transportation is about more than getting people from one place to another. Sometimes, it means being there for our community when they need us most.

To our operators and the entire COLTS team who help make moments like this possible: thank you for all you do. ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ’™

And to the community member who took the time to send us these kind words โ€” thank you. Messages like this mean more than you know.

๐Ÿ“ข Another Important Transportation Survey โ€” and This One Is Different!

You may have recently participated in the COLTS Transit Development Plan (TDP) Survey. Thank you! That survey looked broadly at COLTS service and our communityโ€™s transportation needs.

This is a separate survey with a different focus.

The Lackawanna County Microtransit Feasibility Study is exploring whether a new on-demand, shared-ride transportation service could help connect people to jobs and business parks throughout Lackawanna County.

Why does this matter? Transportation needs donโ€™t exist in isolation. What we learn about barriers to getting to work, where transportation gaps exist, and what employees and employers need can help provide valuable context alongside the work being done through COLTSโ€™ Transit Development Plan.

In other words, the TDP helps us look at the bigger picture for public transportation, while this study takes a closer look at transportation and access to employment. Together, this information can help our region better understand where transportation solutions are needed most.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Businesses: How do transportation gaps affect hiring, attendance and retention?

๐ŸšŒ Employees: What would make your commute easier and more reliable?

๐Ÿ’ผ Job seekers: Has transportation kept you from getting or keeping a job?

The survey takes about 10 minutes and is open through September 4.

Please, take the survey and share it with others in Lackawanna County. Even if you completed the recent COLTS TDP Survey, we encourage you to participate in this one, too โ€” your input serves a different and important purpose.
