Meet Sara, our Government Affairs Intern!
Sara spent her time in Saltchuk's D.C. office advocating for the maritime industry before members of Congress. She's attended congressional hearings and industry events, including the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing on the Jones Act and the christening of a National Security Multi Mission Vessel with TOTE Services at the Philly Shipyard, gaining firsthand insight into how policy, industry, and national security intersect.
"This internship gave me a seat at the table in one of the most important industries to Washington state and the nation, advocating on behalf of a company that contributes to America's workforce and national security," shared Sara. "It's also let me experience the exciting, ever-changing nature of U.S. politics firsthand."
"This summer taught me that reaching out, asking questions, and working to build and maintain relationships will help shape my career path and serve me well in the future. I also learned that, especially within Government Affairs, being able to communicate a message concisely to various audiences is the key to being persuasive."
We're proud of the impact Sara made this summer, representing Saltchuk's interests on Capitol Hill.
