Transworld Consortium

Transworld Consortium International trade management since 1962 As an additional service, Transworld Consortium can provide calculation of the landed cost of the items shipped.

IMPORTING
‘Importing’ is a word that is sometimes used to describe the design, development and prototyping of products that are imported, but is also often used as another word for ‘freight forwarding’ or ‘logistics’. In other words, a client of Transworld Consortium might ask us, “How much does it cost to import this product from China to the United States?”

Transworld Consortium provides servic

es for activities that encompass both definitions of the words ‘importing’:

• Import Assistance for factory due diligence, product design, development and prototyping
• Importing Assistance for freight forwarding, tariff classification, Customs filing, and local delivery to our clients’ destinations

The first step toward a successful import program that involves product design, development and prototyping is finding a qualified, trustworthy, reliable, price competitive offshore supplier. The second step of an import project for product development – after the client has accepted a prototype – is shipping the product from the offshore factory to the importer’s destination. If a client has an alignment with a global source, Transworld will provide logistics services that include submitting an RFQ to our carriers for a freight rate, submission to the client of an itemized, transparent freight cost analysis quote, and calculation of duties, taxes and local delivery of the cargo. Summarizing the two types of importing and import assistance:
• Factory due diligence and product development, from inception to prototyping
• Procurement assistance and production management
• Booking of cargo for ocean or air freight transport
• Management of US Customs, Homeland Security, Federal Government filings
• Tracking of shipments
• Local delivery to the client’s destination
• Calculate the landed cost: the cost upon which the client bases his selling price

Transworld offers its clients a complete range of importing services, for both product / prototyping clients and for clients that need only freight forwarding and Customs services. For 50 years we’ve been providing our clients with opportunities for global competitiveness and increased profits. EXPORTING
‘Exporting’ is a word that is usually associated with exporting / shipping products that are made in the United States, or products that are located in the United States but made elsewhere, to another country outside of the United States. Transworld Consortium’s ‘On Demand Export Services for Specialized Client Interests’ involve all aspects required for exporting from the USA to another country. Transworld Consortium’s global network of freight forwarders and Customs agents provide many value added import and export freight forwarding and Customs service including the following services.
• Global airport-to-airport or seaport-to-seaport
• Transworld will provide export groupage or consolidation.
• Specialized transportation for hazardous good and fragile goods
• Refrigerated transport. NOTE: There are restrictions on exporting certain products, whether having to do with hazardous material or other issues. When submitting an RFQ for export rates clients should provide:
• Pick up location of the cargo or the USA port of origin
• Name of the shipper
• Complete description of the cargo, with MSDS if necessary
• NOTE: Shipper’s declaration of hazardous material form may be necessary
• Commercial invoice value of the cargo
• Date that the cargo will be delivered to the air / seaport of origin or date of pick up
• Weight of the cargo, cubic measurement of the cargo, number of cartons or crates to be shipped. Weight and measure of each carton or drum etc. to be shipped
• Name of the port of discharge
Transworld recommends that clients exporting goods require their client in the offshore country to clear Customs in that country and arrange for local delivery. Customs services and local delivery services are available through Transworld’s agents in offshore countries. However, American clients exporting products offshore are better served when their offshore clients manage Customs and local delivery in their country.
