An entry from the Captain's Log:

1/5/2013-Worth a shot

We moved two different boats on Friday. The first one required a trip to Ballard, which was very exciting in and of itself. It was a 210' research boat, which unfortunately was not ready to go when we arrived. Why isn't the past tense of arrived 'arrove' instead. Think about how much better it would sound. Not long after we arrove at the hotel,.. See, it scans a lot better.

Anyhow, we nearly ran out of time to make it through the Fremont Bridge before the morning closed period, but I tapped into the 8's near-limitless reserves of horsepower and we made it with two minutes to spare. That allowed us to make it to the drydock by our allotted time, but as it turns out the drydock was running about an hour late. We wound up just marking time until they were ready, keeping the tow turned into the wind so we didn't blow down the lake too fast.

After a while we put that one in the drydock, and then moved on to our second task of the morning. We had to meet a tug out in the lake and put them in the same drydock, so both of the boats could go up on the same docking. They look so cute up on the blocks together. Like they're getting married. I made a video during that second job, which I have put on a little thing I like to call "youtube". Here's the link, that'll save you a whole bunch of googling.

Oh, and I took a photo of the tug we docked. Here it is! Okay I have to get to sleep now, we'll see you later, Brian

The Blarney is underway to Alaska. Safe voyage to her and her crew!

A note from the Captain's Log:

Central Asian Fire Drill

The Ocean Division has been called upon to leave town. To leave town in a hurry actually, for reasons and purposes that I of course cannot describe to you here. I of course had not planned on getting the Ocean Division out of town on such short notice, so this sudden addition to my list of chores has proven to be quite a strain. No matter though, I mean my strength is as the strength of ten after all, so this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Today we removed the steering rams from the Blarney and sent them in for their periodic checkup. There wasn't anything wrong with them, but hydraulic rams go bad once in a while, and having one go out while you're in the middle of the ocean area would be kind of annoying, so we tend to send them in whether they need it or not. Actually we do that with a lot of things, because that's just the way we like to do it. It costs a couple bucks more, but hopefully it saves you from more trouble down the road. That's the thought anyway.

Tomorrow the Blarney is due to get hauled out, so maybe I'll get a photo of her up in the air. In the meantime though I will select a photo from days gone by. As always I hope it meets with your approval, and if not I hope you're polite enough not to bring the matter to my attention. See you, Brian
