Cougar Marine started in a Hounslow back street with £1,000, a borrowed pair of engines, and a boat so ugly the pundits gave it ten to one against even finishing.

It won.

What followed over the next 25 years - world championships, world speed records, Virgin Atlantic, the America's Cup, and a Miami scene that turned out to be funded by rather more than prize money, is a story British powerboating has never properly told until now.

It's high time more teams show up in the Cat 300 class. Currently, we only have one team 'Jackhammer' owned by Langheim registered for the Race World Offshore Key West World Championships next week. Long past the category's announcement, we're still waiting for its emergence. Single-boat fleets aren’t cutting it anymore.
The boats of two teams that have been carrying the Cat 300 torch are on sale. We need new teams to step up or else the fan interest will wane.
Time is ticking for this wicked water-bug class. The spotlight is here, it's time to make your marks, guys!⏰🏁

Today we honor a racing legend - our dear friend, Bill Seebold, who passed away yesterday at the age of 84.

Bill wasn’t just a racer - he was a force that defined an era, whose unwavering passion helped shape the very soul of powerboat racing. His influence on Team Mercury, and on everyone fortunate enough to know him, will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with the Seebold family and all who were impacted by his remarkable legacy 🏁
