"And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' Matthew 24:40 (NLT)
God is good! This last year thanks to our churches and grants, we had a very good year with enough food to be given out to everyone who needed it. Because of His grace and His blessings that He gives to us, I believe He expects us to give also to those less fortunate than us. By doing this He says you also have given unto me. It is with a thankful heart that we say thank you to the churches that support Manna For The Many.
But we are in need once again. This time it is not for food donations or monetary gifts, but for volunteers to help so we will be able to keep Manna open the three days a week that we serve the people of Shamokin and the surrounding communities. Many have been with Manna since they opened and now they are getting up in age and cannot do it any longer. We need to honor them for their years of service, but that means we need to fill their positions. Right now we need people to fill in for the last Tuesday of the month and if the month has a fifth Tuesday we need people for that day. Aldo we need for the second and last Wednesday of the month. We are fairly good on Thursdays but could use help on the third Thursday of the month.
As you can see, we only ask for volunteers for days they can work. Anytime someone can work is a help to us. Also we could use a few people who could fill in when someone is sick or is going on vacation. If we had a few people in this category they would only be called now and then when someone is going on vacation. If we cannot get volunteers to help, we may have to go to two days a week instead of three.
This all is important to us because everyone who has something to do at Manna is a volunteer and they need time with family now and then. We are truly thankful for all those who volunteer. If you may have someone in your congregation who is looking for something to do, they will find friendly people here at Manna and they will feel good in helping others.
Please call 570 644-1590 to volunteer or stop by the center when it is open.
Thank you,
Rev. David E Wildoner, President
