So, what have we been up to since getting back to Texas, you ask?

Well, we discovered that we had a broken suspension when we got back. Didn’t notice for a bit after we got home but was VERY obvious. Since neither one of us had a job and no money coming in it had to be placed on the back burner for the time being. We are safe, under cover, and did not stop us from living in our “home”. Today was the day to finally get it fixed. We had just replaced them all in Jan/Feb 2025 so was a little concerning. This was the first one we had done and we later discovered the torque wrench was broken so kind of attributing it to that. We had done our usual walk around on the road at each stop and never saw it so not sure when it happened.

As we are doing that, we had to take the tires off and noticed the middle passenger has a major issue. Looks like it is ready to have a blow out! New tire will be ordered this weekend. We had all new ones bought and replaced in the summer of 2023. Better safe than sorry.

At least we feel better right now knowing the suspension is fixed. Next up is replacing the bearings, which is another must but again we are stationary for a bit and have a place out of the weather to do these repairs.

We are very thankful God has protected us and given us the ability to pay attention and do our maintenance. To think on our other RVs we were so naive and never knew any of this.

Well, we are back at the home base for a while. It has been a great summer with leaving Sherman, TX on 26 April 2025 and traveling to our Texas Ally Rally at Camp Margaritaville in Crystal Beach, TX. From there we traveled across central Texas to the panhandle and crossed into New Mexico and Colorado Springs, where we stayed for about 4 days. We were supposed to stay longer, but had electrical issues while in Crystal Beach and thanks to wonderful friends (Unplugged RV Solar & More, Charles Tyer and Mark Page, along with Jay and Brenda Slawson) we were fixed up and on our way a couple of days late.

While in Colorado Springs we visited the Air Force Academy, along with a friend Gerritt Gillespie. From there we went to Salt Lake City, UT where Tammy got to spend a week at the Family Search Library doing genealogy stuff. Could have stayed for a month with the information that was being found, but alas, the road was calling again.

We traveled thru Idaho and Oregon (we were supposed to stay in Oregon, but ended up going on to Washington as that travel day was very short).

We spent a month in Washington State visiting Spencer's parents and sisters. Also met a couple of fellow Ally's and went to dinner. Let's just say that Washington is VERY expensive for everything. We had a great visit with family and friends while there (Dawn Pongon, Jenn Duvall and Chris and Monica Braunschweig).

We left there and went to Montana for a month. Found out on our way there that our Son-In-Law had a stroke (ended up being a few) and we were uncertain what was going to happen. After multiple tests and doctor visits, along with PT & OT, he is doing great and waiting on his job to put him back to work. Hopefully soon because the man is not one to sit around and is the major provider for the family. It was a good visit and seeing the grandchildren is always the highlight. We were able to watch them in a play, watch a softball game and play around with them.

We left there and went to South Dakota where we enjoyed the week before the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. We had a great time visiting Mount Rushmore, walking around Sturgis and even having "boys time" and "girls time".

After leaving South Dakota we went to Minnesota, where we visited Tammy's former sister-in-law and a dear (distant cousin) husband. Carol had passed away early in 2024, so it was good to see Kevin. We enjoyed being able to help Glenda with projects at her lake property and just visiting.

We left there and went to Wisconsin for about 12 days and stayed at Spencer's brother's house. Maggie loved it because they had a fence all the way around the back yard so she was free to be off a lead or leash the whole time and chase squirrels and birds to her hearts content. She absolutely LOVES being outside.

We have been scheduled since November 2024 to take our Valor to the factory for repairs on the garage floor which was completed last week. Everything is good with that, but we will have to take it back to Elkhart in April 2026 for more repairs they found while it was there. So thankful for a company who stands by their product and does the right thing.

We will post pictures soon of our travels, but it has been a good summer.

Made it to our Harvest Host for tonight. It was a good drive, though not much scenery if you don’t like open, flat, with rolling hills (which I love).

So how was your travel today you might ask...well, we started off from our HipCamp location of The Funny Farm Homestead in Cheney, WA. Diana was a great hostess and we had a couple of wonderful chats.

We made it almost to Montana before the rain started and going over Lookout Pass was a little nerve wracking, only because it was raining. We made it just fine and traveled on into Montana. It has been many years since I (Tammy) traveled from Missoula to Great Falls via Lincoln, MT. The road was not bad UNTIL I forgot about Rogers Pass!!! It was really raining and was a very steep downgrade. The trip from Lincoln to Great Falls was torrential downpour and just as we are pulling into Great Falls the rain stopped (Yay!!). By the time we made it to the FamCamp at Malmstrom AFB it started pouring again!!! Spencer being the gentleman that he is told me to stay in the truck while he got the trailer unhooked and leveled, then I got out and Maggie and I ran into the trailer (ok, not really "ran" but moved rather quickly). When we got in we noticed there was a lot of water in the living room and just as much, if not more, in the bedroom. Like I said it was really raining and we are not sure if the swipe seals were not laying right when the slides were brought in or if it was just raining that hard (which it was) since it was only on one side. We got it all cleaned up and only had one pillow that was wet, which had been under our small loveseat.

We are all set up at the FamCamp for a couple of days. It is off-base and really no frills, but that is ok. We just needed a place to stop before heading to Havre to visit the kids and grandkids.
