The Bowline - a true yachting classic. ⚓️🪢
There’s a reason it’s often called the “king of knots.” The Bowline creates a secure fixed loop that doesn’t tighten around its attachment point under load and is usually easy to untie afterwards.
One of the easiest ways to remember the sequence is the classic “rabbit and hole” story:
the rabbit comes out of the hole → goes around the tree → and returns back into the hole. 🐇
A simple memory trick for one of the most useful knots to have in your sailing skills.
Save the diagram and practise it with a real line. On board, your hands should remember the knot as well as your eyes do.
