NC State Alumni Association featured our CEO and Specialty Care Program Director Drew Baird in a recent highlight. We love our flight colleagues at Duke, UNC, Wake Forest and ECU but today we say, “GO PACK!” .

Andrew Baird ’07 flew his way through college — literally. After graduation, the NC State Poole College of Management grad combined his passion for flying and medicine to form Vector AeroMedical, which handles air and ground transport for medical procedures. 🛩️🩺

2023 was a banner year for our colleagues at HonorBridge ! Our team is privileged to partner with HonorBridge in such unique ways in support of their life saving work.

Thanks to selfless decisions made by organ donors or their families, our hospital partners, and our dedicated staff, HonorBridge saved 💞912 lives, a 22% increase in 2023🎉 compared to its best year ever! Other records set included 💙388 organ donors (23% increase) providing 💚1,003 organs (19% increase) for transplantation to the nearly 105,000 men, women, and children, including more than 3,000 North Carolinians, waiting nationwide for the gift of life. Also, HonorBridge recovered tissues such as heart valves, bone, and skin from 💙1,067 tissue donors.

Averaging more than one organ donor per day, this was our best year yet, and we anticipate having another record year in 2024! ✨

Congratulations to Christina Shelton and Duke Life Flight (our colleagues and hangar neighbors!) on this very well deserved award. Christina works tirelessly for her team and the community.

Our crews have the opportunity to change lives daily through medicine, words, and touch—but they don’t do it alone! They are surrounded by people who work endlessly in the background to support their mission. One of those people at Duke Life Flight is Christina Shelton. She has served at Duke Life Flight for nearly twenty years as a crew member and, most recently, as our Education and Outreach Coordinator. Christina’s efforts to improve clinical practice, operational safety, and the enhancement of transport preparedness in the event of tragedy are known across the country. For this reason, we could not be more pleased that she has been recognized with “The President’s Making a Difference Award,” signifying her commitment to excellence and her contributions to the care of our crews and the patients we serve.

Meet small town, travel loving Lydia! Lydia is currently in school for Nursing. She brings her kind and sweet personality and people skills to the AccessCare Team as an EMT Basic, and we could not appreciate her hard work and dedication more. We are thrilled that she has joined the team and look forward to watching her as she achieves all of her career goals!

A successful team has operational wizards working in the background to keep everything going smoothly. Our Bookkeeper with a Smile, Sherri, keeps the mounds of invoices and bills and who knows what else (she does a lot, okay?) under control. Sherri has been with us for over a a year and a half-and yet she still answers all of our questions quickly and cheerfully. Most of us know her virtually, since we can’t all live in the paradise of North Myrtle Beach. We’re just happy that she’s willing to be “semi retired” so that we can benefit from her attention to the nitty gritty of keeping books, keeping the lights on and (especially) keeping us all paid! 🤩💵.
