RideWise hosted two presentations this week with Canal Walk residents to discuss recent findings from the ongoing speed study and hear their specific concerns and questions through our interactive map.

Canal Walk in Franklin is an active-living, 55+ community that offers residents mobility and the chance to age in place. RideWise is currently collaborating with HOA Management, performing a speed study requested by residents. Our speed sentry is posted on Canal Walk Boulevard, alerting residents of their speed.

Remember to drive safely: you might not see us, but we see your speed!

Last Friday, Olivia and Sarah led an outdoor, interactive pedestrian safety presentation for students in grades pre-K through 4th grade at Stonybrook Elementary School. Students learned the 4 safe steps to crossing the street and finished by using the skills they learned to keep them safe while crossing with special help from the North Plainfield Police Department. Special thanks to T-Rex and Koala for cheering us on as we safely walked!

Recapping our Bike Rodeo at Roosevelt School on Friday! RideWise kicked off the night making sure all helmets were fitted properly, and tires were filled with air. The children then moved over to the obstacle course where they had an amazing time riding as they weaved through cones, practiced looking back, learned bicycle hand signaling, and competed in balance tests to bike as slow as possible without falling. Such a fun way to roll into the weekend! As always, keep on the lookout for our next Bike Rodeo!

RideWise had a wonderful morning at East End Elementary School speaking to grades K-4 about pedestrian safety. Students learned the 4 safe steps to cross the road, how to recognize road signals, and increased their awareness of unsafe walking behaviors. The students practiced how to cross the street using RideWise’s interactive crosswalk, ensuring they know to stop, look both ways, listen for cars, and make eye contact with the driver before crossing with a grown-up. Interested in having RideWise educate your students on safe walking practices? Email us at [email protected]
