Got some good news and some bad news. Bad news first: Southington schools are projecting a roughly $340,000 shortfall for FY 2025–26, even before finalizing next year’s budget. Rising school costs vs. pressure to hold down property taxes leaves (of all people) our kids in the middle of this debate. Here’s the good news: funds the kinds of enrichment and innovation that are usually first squeezed when budgets get tight. SEF has awarded more than $250,000 in grant and program funding, including recent projects such as hands-on coding, Summer RISE, fishing/rod-building, districtwide math-thinking materials, robotics, art experiences, kindergarten readiness, and other hands-on learning programs.
