It is with heavy heart we report that our beloved CAPT Hal Pierce, USNR (ret) has passed away. Larger than life, CAPT Hal was an icon in south Alabama. The 2002 Mobile Bay Area Veteran of the Year, CAPT Hal was the driving force in our Veterans Community for the past 4+ decades. He was integral to the Veteran effort for the Veterans Cemetery and the VA Clinic. He tirelessly supported the Battleship, Middle Bay Light, AUSTAL, the US Navy, and south Alabama in general. CAPT Hal loved the NAVY and Mobile. There was no bigger Navy and Veteran promoter and supporter in south Alabama. CAPT Hal lived life LARGE and WELL! His contributions to our community cannot be captured in one post and will be long felt by generations to come. CAPT Hal Pierce was a genuine patriot and true American hero! The Sea Lord of Mobile has crossed the bar. We bid him fair winds and following seas. We salute you CAPT Hal Pierce!!!

WWII Veterans defeat tyranny AGAIN!!!!!!
Our friends with Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight had their 6th trip to Washington scheduled for months, but it happened to fall on the first day of the federal government shut down.
The national mall where the WWII Memorial is located is a wide open area with no fences or gates, so that means before or after working hours you are free to jog or stroll through any of the parks. But what did our vindictive federal government do yesterday? They went through the trouble and expense to INSTALL barricades and yellow tape all around the WWII Memorial to keep people OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME!
That move was solely to cause pain and inconvenience to the people and let us know when we do not bow to the wishes of the king; the king WILL punish the people.
But, God bless the WWII Veterans! They didn't let fascists and communists stop them almost 70 years ago, so a few sneaky socialists in Washington were not even a bump in the road.
Once again the greatest generation teaches us to stand for what is right; when are you going to stand for America and tell the federal government to abide by the Constitution!

Busloads of World War II veterans, many in wheelchairs, broke past a barricade Tuesday to cross into the World War II Memorial, as onlookers applauded and a man playing the bagpipes led the way.

Folks, our nation faces many challenges and sometimes they can seem quite daunting. Especially when we gather to remember our fallen and it seems people don't even remember why much less appreciate those that have given that last full measure of devotion in service of our country.
Many of us old Veterans wonder if we have been able to pass our love of country on to our youth. Well, wonder no more; the young PATRIOTIC rock band, Madison Rising, renews the American spirit in all its splendor. As you contemplate our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day, please watch and share the ABSOLUTE BEST rendition of the Star Spangled Banner EVER! These young men get it! They sing with unparalleled passion. It is an incredibly forceful version where the words come alive! Listen and you will understand why our men and women in uniform are willing to die for America!

Here is a bittersweet story about one of our HFSA heroes. Mr. Kollar joined us at the senior Bowl this past SAT when the Senior Bowl honored WWII Veterans. It was a privilege to see our heroes again, but sadly that would be Mr. Kollar's last outing. Time is always short; be sure to thank a Veteran today.

Thank you Dr Earl Morse for liking our FB page, but most os all thank you for founding Honor Flight. It has been the highest honor and a spectacular ride!
