Plan a trip to visit Burgess Falls State Park and Window Cliffs State Natural Area. The park opens at 8 a.m. and closes 30 minutes before sunset.

This park contains 4 breathtaking waterfalls as well as fishing and picnic areas. Also included is a round trip, moderately strenuous hike of about a mile and a half, and a butterfly garden very close by. Please be aware of seasonal hours (as stated below):
- November 1st to the second Saturday in March: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Second Saturday in March - April 30th: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- May 1st - August 16th: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- August 16th - October 31st: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Join SIR Taylor this weekend on Saturday, October 24th for a fall foliage hike at Window Cliffs State Natural Area. We will meet at the Window Cliffs parking lot at 9am.

The trail is 5.5 miles and has 9 creek crossings, because of time you will not be able to change your shoes after each crossing. Please bring appropriate footwear, water, and snacks.

Join SIR Taylor on Saturday, October 24th at 9am for a fall foliage hike at Window Cliffs!

Come enjoy the beautiful autumn colors, fresh air, and scenic views! We’ll meet at the parking lot at 9:00 AM and hit the trail together.

There are 18 creek crossings along the trail, and since this is a timed event, we won’t have time to change shoes after each crossing. Please wear appropriate footwear that you don’t mind getting wet, and be sure to bring water and snacks!

Looking for something to do? Make sure to bring your pup to Burgess Falls on Sunday, October 18th to become an official Tennessee State Parks B.A.R.K Ranger complete with a certificate and a dog tag!

We will meet at the kiosk in the Burgess Falls parking lot at 9 AM, and then we will hike our river trail that is about 1 mile! Make sure to bring closed toed shoes, water, bug spray, and a leash!

Ready for an adventure under the moonlight? Come out on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 5:30 pm for a night hike at Window Cliffs to enjoy the beautiful Hunter’s Full Moon! We expect to finish around 8:30 pm.

This hike is 5.7 miles round trip and includes 18 creek crossings and some significant elevation change — so be prepared to get your feet wet! Since this is a timed hike, there won’t be time to stop and change shoes at each crossing.

Volunteers helped manage for healthy, shortleaf pine (Pinus echinata) today! We’re removing select understory trees to open the canopy, increase sunlight, and give shortleaf pine the growing conditions it needs to regenerate. We’re also collecting shortleaf pine cones to add seed to a prescribed burn unit, helping encourage natural regeneration for future generations to enjoy.

BioBlitz Results: Look What We Found!

Before our BioBlitz, we had 1,002 species documented in the park. After bringing staff, volunteers, and community members together, we discovered 102 new species, bringing our total to 1,104 species! 🎉

These discoveries help the park:
🌱 Better understand and manage habitats
🐦 Track biodiversity over time
🦋 Identify important or uncommon species
🌎 Detect invasive species
🤝 Connect our community with nature
