Today we arrived in Naples, Italy, and took an excursion to the ancient city of Pompeii.

As someone who loves ancient history, Pompeii has always been on my list of places I wanted to visit, and it definitely did not disappoint. I knew about the history of Pompeii and the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, but I never realized just how massive this city was until I saw it with my own eyes.

Walking through the ancient streets and seeing the remains of homes, buildings, and everyday life was an incredible experience. It’s hard to imagine that this was once a thriving city before everything changed in 79 AD.

Pictures and history books really don’t do this place justice. To actually stand where people lived nearly 2,000 years ago was something special.

This is one of those experiences I will never forget. Another destination checked off my bucket list, and I’m so glad I finally got to see it for myself.
