Prairie Hills Transit Prairie Hills Transit provides public transportation to people of all ages in the Western third region of South Dakota.

Public transportation is a service available to anyone wishing to use PHT as a transportation option. There are no other agencies in the area that provide public transportation or the range of services available to all riders from preschool to senior citizens. Our vehicles feature seatbelts (unlike many buses), and are lift-equipped, providing added safety and mobility options. We accept donations

for rides from people over 60 that live independently, unlike transportation options with a strict fee. There are no pre-qualification regulations excluding riders because of age, sex, low income or special interest.

Prairie Hills Transit was honored with the CTAA Small System of the Year award for 2026 at the National Expo in Omaha, NE. Barb Cline, Executive Director and Lisa Johnson, Deputy Director accepted the award. Thank you to Megan Gould with Rapid Ride in Rapid City who presented the award along with CTAA Scott Bogren, Executive Director and Douglas Wright, President of Forest River bus, van and marine manufacturing.
