πŸ„ SALE DAY AT STOCKLAND LIVESTOCK AUCTION πŸ„

Today was a great success at Stockland Livestock Auction in Davenport, WA!

Cows, calves, and bulls all went through the ring, and the Stockland staff and crew did an incredible job from start to finish. They provide a real service to producers and buyers across our region, and it shows every sale day.

A big thank you to Taylor Auction Service as well!

We were there today filling orders for our customers, and it's always a pleasure doing business through this barn.

If you've never been, come out on a Monday and see a real working livestock auction. Grab a cheeseburger at the historic diner while you're there. You won't regret it.

Thank you to the whole Stockland team! 🀠

πŸ₯© PUTTING LOCAL BEEF IN YOUR FREEZER ON A REAL FAMILY BUDGET πŸ₯©

Beef prices are on everyone's mind. Here are your options with us, from most affordable on up.

1️⃣ 10 LB TUBES OF 80/20 GRASS FED GROUND BEEF: $60 each
That works out to $6/lb. This is the most affordable way to get local beef in your freezer.

2️⃣ WHOLE GRASS FED RIBEYE SECTIONS: $11/lb
Average about 12 lbs, so roughly $132 per section. Easy for anyone to cut into steaks or roasts at home.

Both of these come never frozen, so you can portion them however your family likes. Honestly, with just these two items you can cover the bulk of your recipes.

3️⃣ GRASS FED & FINISHED COW: $4,000 whole
Butcher fees included. Based on a 600 lb hanging weight, that's about $6.67/lb hanging, and you choose your cuts. An affordable way to fill the freezer with a full range of beef.

4️⃣ PREMIUM GRAIN FINISHED BEEF: $6.75/lb hanging weight, plus harvest fee
Average hanging weight is 825 lbs, which comes to about $5,570 before the harvest fee. This one is our favorite.

Whatever your budget, there's a way to get local beef on your table.

πŸ‘ WOOL QUESTION FOR OUR PNW FARM FAMILY πŸ‘

Let's say you've got a flock of sheep, even a small one. You get them sheared out in the pasture, and now there's a pile of wool sitting on the ground.

What do you do with it?

I'm looking into this myself, and from what I can tell there are two routes:

🧢 OPTION 1: Get your own wool back as yarn or roving
Small custom fiber mills will wash, card, and spin your wool and send it back to you as yarn, roving, batting, or rug yarn. A few names that came up in my digging: Skagit Woolen Works (Puget Sound), I Make Yarn (Caldwell, ID), and Ewethful Fiber Farm & Mill (Oregon).

πŸ’΅ OPTION 2: Sell your wool
Pendleton Woolen Mills has bought wool from ranches of all sizes, and they've encouraged small flocks to pool their wool together. Fine, clean wool brings a better price than coarse wool or wool full of paint and debris.

I haven't used any of these yet, so I'm curious:
πŸ‘‰ Does anyone already do this?
πŸ‘‰ Which mill do you use, and were you happy with it?
πŸ‘‰ Has anyone pooled wool with neighbors or sold to Pendleton?
πŸ‘‰ Is it worth the cost and hassle for a small flock?

Drop your experience in the comments. Let's figure out how to keep this wool from going to waste.

πŸ₯© PAY AS YOU GO BEEF | Reserve a whole beef now, pay over the year, fill your freezer next October.

No big lump sum. Here's how it works for a whole beef:

1️⃣ $2,350 today reserves your beef
2️⃣ $300 a month for 11 months
3️⃣ $150 final payment after butcher, set by the actual hanging weight

πŸ’² $6.75 per pound hanging weight, cut and wrap included, plus $200 processing and $200 transport

At 800 lb hanging weight, that's $5,800 total for about 480 lb of beef in your freezer at our 60% average yield. That works out to about $12 a pound for every cut, steaks and roasts included.

Payments are non-refundable. Your money goes directly into buying and feeding your animal. Weights shown are examples, not a guarantee; your take-home depends on how you have it cut.

Call or message to reserve yours:

πŸ“Š Inland Northwest Weekly Market Report | Week of October 12–16, 2026

This week's numbers from Stockland (Davenport), Lewiston, Toppen*sh and Central Washington Livestock (Moses Lake) are up, along with the Market Snapshot and Small Animal Report.

What stood out:
πŸ‚ Lewiston ran 1,194 head with strong demand. Posted ranges on 400–500 lb steers were $469–$535.
πŸ‚ Toppen*sh moved 836 head. Calves 400–499 lb averaged $378.51 across 42 head.
πŸ‚ Stockland had a lighter run at 484 head, and 600–700 lb steers averaged $356.23 on 84 head.
πŸ‚ Central Washington Livestock held a feeder sale Friday with over 1,200 head. Those results aren't posted yet, so they're not in this week's report.
πŸ‘ Small stock: central Washington livestock sold 53 sheep and 84 goats.
Stockland livestock had goats, sheep and 33 pigs.

Central Oregon hasn't posted its Oct 12 sheet yet, so it's not included. We don't carry old numbers forward.

It's a beautiful thing to be surrounded by incredible people.

Moving here has been a true blessing. Since we arrived in Ritzville, we've kept meeting our neighbors and our community, and they've been nothing but supportive, kind and welcoming.

We're just beginning to step into the farming and ranching community here, and it's already given us support, tips, advice and wisdom we couldn't have found anywhere else.

This way of life isn't always easy. But with people like this beside us, it doesn't feel like we're doing it alone. Our hope is to pass on the same welcoming spirit we were greeted with, to the next family that shows up ready to work.

Thank you, neighbors. We're grateful for every one of you. πŸ™
