Former FDNY firefighter Kevin Shea knows what makes training stick.

In this clip from Confident Risks, Kevin breaks down why smaller firefighter training units can still deliver serious reps for departments.

For many fire departments, a smaller container-based training unit can create a practical, scalable way to build skills, add realism and train more consistently.

Built for the work.

Training changes when the building gets taller.

The Taylor’d Tower Series gives departments a complete vertical training system built for multi-story fireground scenarios, from ladder work and roof access to bailout drills, wall breach training and floor-to-floor movement.

Available as a standalone tower or integrated with your existing Prop Series setup, each configuration is designed to help firefighters build confidence where it counts: under load, under pressure and above ground.

Take your training to new heights.

The comments section is undefeated. 😂

In this clip from the upcoming Confident Risks podcast, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Rusty Kramer talks about the one part of posting online that every department, business and creator has dealt with:

The negative comments.

Some are fair.
Some are funny.
Some make you question humanity.

Full episode drops Tuesday. 🎙️

What’s the wildest comment you’ve seen on a department post?

Prop Mods // Greater Naples Fire Rescue District 🚒

The Series 12 was designed to be a rugged, mobile foundation that departments can truly make their own. Greater Naples Fire Rescue took that adaptability to the next level by integrating a custom standpipe connection into their unit.

By mounting a standpipe directly to the container ribs, they can train realistic hose pulls and standpipe operations in a compact footprint.

We build the core. You define the training.

How is your department customizing your Taylor’d prop? Tag us in your mods or drop a comment with the one feature you’ve added.

$648 Million is available for fire departments right now, but the application windows are incredibly short.

Two major grant cycles are open to fund critical equipment and training props:

🏛️ Department of Homeland Security AFG Grant – Closes June 22, 2026
👨🏻‍🚒 Leary Firefighters Foundation Grant – Closes August 15, 2026

Grant committees require exact technical specs and formal pricing. Waiting until deadline week to request a quote will likely cost your department the window.

Most departments don’t need a bigger training facility.

They need more ways to train in the space they already have.

The Taylor’d Class A Burn Cell is built to bring live-fire, realistic, repeatable training to your department — without having to send crews across town, across the county or wait for the next scheduled academy day.

Real heat.
Real reps.
Built around your facility.

Would your department use something like this?

Send this to your training officer. 🔥

Most training doesn’t need to be fancy.
It needs to be simple enough to repeat — and real enough to matter.

Kevin Shea explains why firefighters have to own the core skills before anything else. Because under pressure, you don’t rise to the occasion. You fall back on your reps.

What basic skill gets overlooked the most?
