Reminder: Starting February 1, if you don’t have a REAL ID or acceptable form of ID (like a passport!) for domestic flights, you may pay a $45 fee to verify your identity through TSA ConfirmID. A passport card ($30) or passport book are both accepted REAL ID alternatives for domestic air travel and can help you avoid this fee, but just remember that a passport card cannot be used for international air travel (you'll need a passport book for that). Learn more about the Real ID policy at TSA.gov/real-id and about passport cards at travel.state.gov/passportcard.

Jamaica 🇯🇲 💚🖤💛 Home of the iconic Bob Marley. And what a great way to honor a legend by dedicating this beautiful piano lounge to him.

At Sandals Dunn's River you can gather around the piano to listen to the rhythms of the island come to life in front of you. It's a true Jamaican experience that anyone with a little island vibe in their soul would love.

Burano. The colorful island of lace. Many international magazines include Burano among the top 10 most colorful cities in the world. And it is spectacular!

An ancient legend says that fishermen painted their houses to see them from long distances when they were far away for fishing. Whatever the reason, this island is a must see for it's beauty and charm. We arrived on the island in the evening with just enough time to browse through a couple shops before they closed for the day.

We wandered the little streets and marveled at these unique houses. What must it be like to live here? We found a Piazza where the leaning bell tour rose up from behind the buildings. As we sat there we saw kids playing in the street while their moms chatted. To get just a glimpse into the very different and wonderfully slow-paced lives of these locals felt like a gift. If you get the opportunity to visit Venice, you must make time for Burano.

This week's post might help you from unknowingly breaking the law when visiting Rome!

The Scalinata della Trinità dei Monti.
Better known to Americans as The Spanish Steps.

Located near the Piazza di Spagna (the Spanish square) in Rome, there are 135 steps and three different terraces, referring to the Holy Trinity (the Trinità). This is a major tourist attraction and is often crowded, but has fantastic views from the top. It is a must see spot to visit when in Rome.

But that it is illegal to sit on these famous steps?

As of 2019, a ban was introduced to prevent tourists from sitting on the 135 steps, spanning from the Trinita de’ Monti to the Piazza di Spagna. A hefty fine of €250 (about $290) awaits anyone spotted using the steps as a resting spot, enforced by whistle-wielding high-vis-wearing officials patrolling the area by day.

So don't make this mistake (like some of the niave tourists in my pictures!), it could be a bit embarrassing!

✨ Wanderlust Wednesday ✨
This week is all about Curaçao, a Dutch island known for its unbelievably clear blue water and rich, colorful culture. 🏝️

Downtown Willemstad is full of pastel buildings and waterfront views, and we noticed right away how many tourists spoke Dutch and locals spoke Papiamentu, far more than English. It gave the island such an authentic feel.

The places we spent time have been beautiful, welcoming and easy to fall in love with.

🌍 If Curaçao is on your wish list, I’d love to help you plan a trip that fits your style and pace.

✨ Wanderlust Wednesday ✨
One of the many reasons I love the Sandals/Beaches brand is that it’s family‑owned and Jamaican-owned. Most of the team at their resorts are locals from Jamaica and the Caribbean. And the way this company shows up in hard moments really stands out.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, five of their eight Jamaica properties were technically ready to welcome guests soon after the storm, but executive chairman Adam Stewart chose to keep them closed until Dec. 6, giving staff space to care for their own people first. And even while the doors were closed, they continued receiving pay and benefits. That says a lot.

With those five resorts reopening in just a few days, it feels like the perfect time for a little tribute to one of our favorites: Beaches Negril. This is where we brought our girls for their very first Jamaica trip in 2018, and where we got to surprise them again in 2020 after a year that threw more curveballs than any of us expected.

Spectacular beach, unforgettable moments, and a team that makes the place shine even brighter — that’s the magic of it. If you know, you know: Jamaica doesn’t just get visited, it gets felt. And when you leave, you take a little piece of it with you.

One love 🤍🇯🇲☀️🌴

One of my favorite parts about travel is the unexpected things that happen that lead to a great memory and story to tell.

I have many that I could share, as anyone who knows me well knows I am full of travel stories that might be a bit long! 😉 So I will keep this one short. It's a silly little thing that happened in Venice.

As we were being transferred in our luxurious wooden water taxi from the train station to our accommodations, we were all gazing around in wonder at the magic that is Venice. Suddenly, something hit me in the chest and fell to my lap. I felt the impact and immediately looked on the banks of the canal, waiting for the sound of laughter from whoever threw it at me. But nobody was looking our way, no one laughing. I wasn't sure what happened. Finally I looked down to examine what was thrown at me... it was a clam! I heard a squawk above and saw birds flying around and suddenly I realized nobody threw this clam at me... a bird dropped it! What are the odds?! 🤣🐚

What is your funny travel story?

This is one of my favorite signs I've found while wandering the beaches at all-inclusive resorts I've stayed at. It speaks to why I don't spend money on expensive vehicles, luxury clothing or accessories. I save for vacations instead, because the memories I make with my family and friends will last a lifetime!
