What to Do
Motown Museum — Standing inside the actual studio where Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross recorded is one of those experiences that stays with you. Book ahead, it sells out.
Detroit Institute of Arts — One of the best art museums in the country, full stop. The Diego Rivera murals inside are breathtaking.
Eastern Market — Show up on a Saturday morning. Grab breakfast, browse local vendors, and soak in the energy. Pure Detroit.
Corktown & Midtown — Walk these neighborhoods, pop into independent shops, grab a drink. The city's creative soul lives here.
Belle Isle — A beautiful island park in the Detroit River with skyline views that'll make you reach for your phone every five minutes.

What to Eat
Don't leave without trying Detroit-style pizza (square, crispy, sauce on top — Buddy's is the original), and absolutely get a Coney dog from Lafayette or American Coney Island downtown. The debate over which is better has been going on since 1917 and we're not settling it here.
