Packing is easy—until you actually start.

First box: “Kitchen.”

Second box: “Random stuff.”

Third box: “Things we haven’t used since 2009 but apparently must protect with our lives.”

Then the arguments begin:

“That’s your junk.”

“No, that’s our junk.”

“Then why am I carrying it?”

By hour four, nothing is organized, the dog has claimed the rug, and half the house is packed into boxes labeled “SORT LATER”—which means they’ll remain sealed until the next move.

When your wife says, “The movers will be here Saturday,” but forgets to mention that you’re included in the inventory.

Ed thought he was relaxing in his favorite chair. Five minutes later, Holy Cow Moving had the chair, Ed, and his smelly dog halfway onto the truck.

The dog was marked “FRAGILE.”

Ed was marked “DO NOT OPEN UNTIL NEW ADDRESS.”

Every customer when it’s time to move the 800-pound safe:

“I’d help, but I’ve got a bad knee.”

Absolutely, sir. Please protect that knee while our spines file for divorce, our knees enter witness protection, and the safe quietly decides which one of us it’s taking to the afterlife.

Then comes the helpful advice from across the room:

“Careful—it’s heavier than it looks.”

Oh, perfect. We were worried the giant steel death refrigerator might be lightweight.

By the time we get it through the doorway, the customer has finished his drink, updated his life insurance, and started telling us about the basement stairs he “forgot” to mention.

Customer: “It’s only a few stairs.”

The stairs: 4,000 steps, seven time zones, two weather systems, and a mountain goat named Gary offering the crew bottled water.

After carrying the piano all the way to the top, the customer points across the canyon and says, “Oh… it actually goes in that house.”

At that point, one mover retired, another started writing his will, and Gary the mountain goat filled out a job application.

Three snack breaks, four oxygen tanks, and one sherpa later, the crew finally reached the neighbor’s house—only to hear:

“Actually, can we try it against the wall downstairs?”

The piano is now listed on Facebook Marketplace as “Free—must move yourself.”

Gary was promoted to crew leader, the movers are still missing somewhere above the clouds, and the customer just called to ask if we also move hot tubs.
