Just a STRONG note?

Have had a few people call, saying that "I heard you are no longer a UPS Dropoff point," or "You are closed?"

To be VERY clear?

The Pack & Ship Center is OPEN, Monday through Friday, 9 to 3 pm. Will admit? SOMETIMES have to leave, by about 2:45, for various appointments, but? Official pickup times for UPS and FedEx are 2:30 and earlier.

What the Pack & Ship Center is NOT:

We are NOT the Post Office (USPS,) so, if you have a USPS package, don't just leave it in the entryway, after hours.

We are NOT "The UPS Store." Closest of those are Asheville, Johnson City, Morganton, or Weaverville. If Amazon (or anyone else) gives you something that needs to be scanned to ship it? You can NOT do that here. If they give you a UPS or FedEx shipping label, that you printed out? You can drop that off, any time.

We are NOT a "FedEx Office." Closest ones are Boone, Asheville, Johnson City, and... probably Hickory.

So... basics are? If you give us a name & address, we can ship, using UPS or FedEx, to most anywhere on the planet, if you pay for the shipping. If you arrive with a printed out, pre-paid label, for either UPS or FedEx? We can certainly ship that item for you, at no charge (might be a charge, if we have to sell you a box and pack it.) If you have a "code," or "label" on your "phone?" We have no way to scan or print that for you.

Oh for love of all that is Holy!!!

Had a gentleman today, wanting to send a passport to someone in the state of Michoacan. Mexico.

My first thought? No worries! Though I won't even TOUCH anything but "paperwork" to Mexico (OR Canada) these days? I figured it would be "easy peasy." In fact? Most documents I've recently sent to that area have tended to run about $40 to $60. Expensive, but? They GET there.

Today? I punch everything into the system, make sure I get everything, up to a phone number for the recipient. My system? Still rejects everything, and shows "$0 cost."

I JUST now spend time with FedEx "tech support?"

OK... things are "fixed," but? What was before, maybe $60 is NOW $120.21!!!!

My worry? Customer will think I'm being xenophobic, or "racist."

Nope... PROMISE you that. I'm used to sending documents to Michoacan for somewhere between $48 and $60 dollars. It is NOW $120++

Sorry- I sure have not raised/adjusted MY rates!

Please pardon the late notice, but first I've been able to get onto the internet.

Unfortunately, today, Monday January 17th, we are snowbound and can't GET to the shop, much less open it up.

Based on current conditions, we will likely have to open somewhat late on Tuesday, unless the snow/drifting stops and we can find someone local who can plow a parking lot/drive.

Just a head's up, but?

Pack & Ship Center will be closed on Friday, December 31st to celebrate New Years Eve.

The Pack & Ship Center will be CLOSED, Friday 5 November, and will re-open on Monday, 8 November, but? We may be just a bit late on Monday, so figure on a 10:00 a.m. opening.

Just had "Lisa Haywood" - "Standards Inspector II," from "NC Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services" stop in & check out our scale.

Results? Scale FAILED, at anything above 25 pounds.

Yeah, that would be "awful," but? My scale reads LOW, from that weight, on.

Yep - Anything above 25 pounds, so long as the "dimensional weight" isn't higher? My customers are coming out "ahead."

Me? I'm just FINE with that. They mostly rob you for the first pound, and dimensions I have no control over.

But? Yeah - in "theory," I am losing $$$, for not charging enough for the weight, of any package above 25 pounds.

Have not seen this posted otherwise, but experience it EVERY day, and truly feel bad for our customers, and anyone else ...

Truly? Almost every sign on or near the door of the shop talks about this, and I (David Schultz) get fairly "snippy" about this, towards the end of the day (or... after about 10 interactions...)

The Pack & Ship Center is a "UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet (A*O)" and a "FedEx Authorized Ship Center (FASC)," BUT!?!? We are not NOW, nor will we ever be a "FedEx Office," or "UPS Store."
