WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that nearly 3,000 Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training providers have been removed from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Training Provider Registry (TPR) for failing to properly prepare trainees according to federal readiness standards. Another 4,500 providers have been placed on notice for potential noncompliance.
The Training Provider Registry (TPR) lists all providers authorized to offer federally required Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT). This action is the first step in FMCSA’s review of 16,000 training providers to identify and remove noncompliant programs.
Reasons for removal include:
Falsifying or manipulating training data
Failing to meet required curriculum, facility standards, or instructor qualifications
Failing to maintain accurate, complete records or refusing to provide documentation during federal audits or investigations
