"This Memorial Day, we honor all who gave their lives in service -- and pay special tribute to the women whose sacrifices have too often gone unrecognized. Their courage forged a path for future generations, and their legacy demands more than remembrance.

As a community, we carry their legacy forward -- through courageous leadership, a commitment to justice, and lives lived in service to others. Our hearts go out to their friends, loved ones, and families." -- Foundation for Women Warriors

For a touching picture book that introduces children to a powerful ceremony of remembrance for military members who didn't come home, we recommend "America's White Table" for ages 6 to 10 at https://www.amightygirl.com/america-s-white-table

For a children's book that gives groundbreaking women in the military, past and present, the respect they deserve, we highly recommend "Heroism Begins With Her: Inspiring Stories of Bold, Brave, and Gutsy Women in the U.S. Military" for ages 9 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/heroism-begins-with-her

For two excellent books for teen and adult readers about women's heroism during wartime, check out "Women Heroes of World War II" (https://www.amightygirl.com/women-heroes-of-world-war-ii) and "Women Heroes of World War I" (https://www.amightygirl.com/women-heroes-of-world-war-i)

During my time as a Flight Instructor, where I provided accelerated flight programs from 2001 to 2018, it was of utmost importance to coordinate check ride dates that aligned closely with the conclusion of each 14-day program. In this regard, Duffy Gaier was the primary examiner for scheduling instrument and commercial check rides.

The new instrument-rated and commercial pilots who underwent their check rides with Duffy returned with enthusiasm and consistently conveyed positive feedback to me.

Duffy Gaier was not only an exceptional examiner but also a superb instructor. I felt deeply grateful for his continuing role as an instructor conducting my flight reviews.

I am honored to add my experiences to Duffy's long list of outstanding contributions to aviation. His induction into the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame is a testament to his dedication and expertise.

I was saddened to hear of Woody's passing. He was a dedicated and talented flight examiner who was always willing to provide flight tests for my accelerated customers (2001 - 2018). He was professional, supportive, and fair, and a true asset to the industry. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all of us who knew him.

Gone West - We've just learned the sad news that WAHF Inductee Sherwood "Woody" Williams has passed away. He will be missed. There's a link to his obituary and a link to his inductee page for you to be reminded of what an accomplished person and pilot he was.

November 2015: Tony Ruiz, PP-ASEL Instrument-Airplane Ruiz demonstrated mastery of the single engine aircraft for each instrument TASK performed during the Instrument Practical Test flight with Designated Pilot Examiner, Harold “Duffy” Gaier at the Marshfield Municipal Airport.

Under the authority of FAR Part 61.57 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Anthony Ruiz is now eligible to fly by reference to instruments under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) in single engine airplanes.
