Did you know… that loud semi-truck sound isn’t a problem—it’s a Jake brake?
It’s an engine braking system on nearly every heavy-duty diesel truck. When activated, the engine acts like a giant air compressor, creating resistance to slow the truck without relying only on the service brakes.
This is critical on steep hills—so the regular brakes don’t overheat or fail under tens of tons.

Taking breaks is required. Parking on the shoulder or ramps is not.

Trucks aren’t cars — they take serious distance to get back up to speed. Add distracted drivers drifting onto the rumble strip, and the risk skyrockets.

Plan your 30-minute breaks, fuel, and meals ahead of time. Find a real safe spot.

Our cameras flag shoulder and ramp stops. We’ll call and tell you to move. The only exception is a true breakdown (triangles out, help on the way).

We stay in the top 1% for safety because we treat this seriously. You should too.

Plan the stop. Stay off the shoulder. Stay safe.
