With over five decades of sewing experience and more than four decades of working with boats, I have encountered a myriad of requests, but none for custom canvas weather covers for a boat trailer until now. This particular customer owns a tri-axle trailer, recently upgraded with new bunks, tires, and winch strap, these covers are primarily used while Boat is in the water. To safeguard the investment, I designed and crafted Custom weather covers. Additionally, a custom cover for the winch stand was made, featuring a zipper for easy installation. Bunk covers include bungee cords for secure and effortless fitting and dual straps at the center to prevent displacement during high winds. Similarly, the fender covers have zippers at the inner corners and two straps in the middle for added security. As evident, the tires are shielded from sun damage that could lead to dry rot.

This is the way my dad made custom fitted shoes for people that had deformed feet. He would make a plaster mold of their foot. And use it to pattern the shoes that would fit perfectly to their foot shape. I did assist him in making of the molds. We would use a special balloon ( like a giant condom) blow it up and press the end of the balloon onto the toes and slowly release the air as we rolled the balloon over their foot and up the leg, past the ankles. After that we would make a plaster cast of the foot. Just like a doctor would do for a broken bone. After the cast was almost set. We would remove their foot. After the cast dried over night. We would mix up plaster and pour it into the cast to make a nice mold of their foot shape From that point on. The shoe was made just like the video shows from making the patterns with the tape. This is how I learned how to make patterns and how to sew them together. Lots of memories in this video for me. Now I’m passing down those skills to my grandson, only we are working on boat seats. A customer's boat suffered damage from a garage fire when a hot ember landed on the front bow cushion, resulting in a vinyl burn. I successfully matched the original factory colors and fabricated a new cushion. Here's the before and after.
