A national homebuilder wants to pour concrete for a piece of the Carolina Bays Parkway extension near Socastee —

and in exchange, build up to 2,000 new homes on the old Pine Ridge Tract.

Officials are selling it as a road that gets built without a countywide tax hike, but the fine print leans on the people who buy those homes: a reported $5,800-per-home fee, a special-assessment district baked into home prices, and a tax designation that redirects revenue off the general rolls.

And the deal only funds the segment inside the developer's own land — the rest of the SC-707-to-Highway-17 stretch still needs public money. It cleared second reading July 14 but isn't final yet.

As of now, it’s still like this. See road crews are replacing signs along the Carolina Bays Parkway at Hwy 501 and Grissom, yet this sign is still like this.
What’s up SCDOT ? Horry County Government?

Looks like SCDOT or Horry County Government needs to replace this overhead sign on SC 31 Northbound. It’s been about a month at least.

LANE CLOSURE PLANNED ALONG US 17 BUSINESS🚧

The closure will begin at 9am on February 11 and is expected to reopen at 2pm the same day. Only the outer southbound lane of US 17 Business from the Garden City Connector intersection to the Offshore Drive intersection will be closed as crews work on intersection improvements. The same section will close again on February 12 at 9am and reopen at 2pm the same day.
