The county broke ground on the Western Carteret County Boat Launch Facility in February. The facility is designed to provide safe, reliable access to area waterways while supporting recreation, tourism, and the local economy.
Carteret County secured $3.5 million in state funding in late 2021 for land acquisition and development for the project. Plans call for the construction of enhanced launch lanes, parking, and habitat restoration, allowing for better water access while protecting the Bogue Sound ecosystem.

⚓ Mariners: We, along with other NWS offices along the eastern seaboard, are rolling out the expansion of our marine zones out to 60 nautical miles. this means forecasts, watches, and warnings will be provided by your local coastal NWS office out to 60 nautical miles. PLEASE share this information with any mariners you know!!!
